I’ve never heard a coach go off on his team like this in a press conference
'We've got guys who think they're better than they are'. That's a Bill Parcells line for sure
I just posted a thread on this before I saw this and completely agree good for himI can't help but wonder how much our guys also want to win, especially those knowing they are going to the NBA next year. Does winning even matter?
Glad he called them out. Another effect of NIL, the gift that keeps on giving.
His job is not to work harder than his players. His job is to prepare them to work harder and play better than the other team.Wow. Curious to see if putting everyone (his players and his staff) on blast publicly works out.
The players are supposed to be student athletes. He should be working harder than them because this is his job. NIL definitely increases the expectations but they don't just play ball.
They'll either go on a tear and this will be the turning point, or they'll fold up like a broken card table the rest of the season and this will be the reason for the collapse.Wow. Curious to see if putting everyone (his players and his staff) on blast publicly works out.

Just in time for Moday lolThey'll either go on a tear and this will be the turning point, or they'll fold up like a broken card table the rest of the season and this will be the reason for the collapse.
They play at Maryland on Friday, that will be interesting.Just in time for Moday lol
i would take Cronin here in a nano second...winner at a high levelI hate Cronin. I think he is a jerk. I also hate how he treated and talked to Myles.
I'd rather have a Pike 10X over. He stands up for his players unlike this loser
both teams desperate for winsThey play at Maryland on Friday, that will be interesting.
Yep. And at more than one stopi would take Cronin here in a nano second...winner at a high level
Why? To see how not to act. To show what happens when you don't show constraint. This guy is a wanker.Hope Pike and our players watch this, a few times.
Disagree. Pike will never say anything like this, but that doesn’t mean our players can’t watch it on their own and get the message. Why? To see how not to act. To show what happens when you don't show constraint. This guy is a wanker.
Pike and Cronin had the same issues and concerns. They both made it known the effort wasn't where it needed to be. Pike at the last press conference said he did a bad job getting these ready to play. The right way to tell the team (and the media) the effort wasn't acceptable.Almost feels like a Gundy rant (ok st. Football coach).
He comes off as a terrible leader.
I don't necessarily see our freshmen NIL guys this way. I don't think money affects the efforts of Harper, Ace and Sommerville. I think a lot of what fans see and blame on NIL is freshmen inexperience, and adapting to the college game and the effort required. As far as coaches complaining - get a better read on your recruits.I can't help but wonder how much our guys also want to win, especially those knowing they are going to the NBA next year. Does winning even matter?

But are they really “student” athletes anymore? I’m sure the lesser players still are anyway.Wow. Curious to see if putting everyone (his players and his staff) on blast publicly works out.

what’s the goal ? would anyone here prefer a nice guy who can’t get to the Big Dance even with a couple of superstars or a ‘terrible leader’ who wins consistently ?Almost feels like a Gundy rant (ok st. Football coach).

The overall team effort looked like it was there against Wisconsin.Pike and Cronin had the same issues and concerns. They both made it known the effort wasn't where it needed to be. I actually met him on UCLA’s campus earlier this summer. Was just touring around on the USC football trip and he was out walking his dog on the main quad. He said he loves the RAC, and remembers how tough it was when he was at Cincinnati, which I forgot that he coached at the RAC before. He was super nice and happy to be in the Big Ten. He did love UCLA though, said you can feel the ocean breeze, tough to beat. Seems like a no BS guy though and would take him in 5 seconds, but sounds like he’s getting ready to wrap things up, and why would he move to frigid Livingston from Bel Air.Can we pry him away from LA! 🙏🏻👍🏼😂
Not for the 1st 7-10 minutesThe overall team effort looked like it was there against Wisconsin.
