OT: Safer football helmets?

I don't think this is behind a pay wall. It might interest many of you who would like football to remain as much of a contact sport as it is today. Looks like a step in the right direction, but the stricter enforcement against leading with the crown of the helmet will also do a lot of good.

While imporvement can be made the problem isn't just physical contact to the head it is also the sudden end to movement that leads to the brain banging around inside the skull. A clean hard tackle can whiplash the head back and produce a concussion.

Also agree that helmet research shouldn't just focus on football. Cycling sorely needs better designed helmets.
