OT: Sandusky Story Gets Worse

It is not a necessity that Sandusky had anything on Joe Pa. Paterno had choice between turning Sandusky in or hiding the incidents. Paterno could simply have felt that if he turned Sandusky in that this type of conduct would reflect so badly on the entire program that the damage could be irreparable. as a result he chose to protect the brand rather than turn him in. He might have believed that Sandusky would stop the behavior once Paterno was aware of his behavior. Unfortunately the behavior continued and the situation got worse but by then it too late to do anything about it so the cover up just snow balled. We will never know

The problem with this type of thinking is, the cover up always ends up being worse than the original issue. To address it, it makes Penn State look bad for a little while, to cover it up STAINS the program for years (going on 4 1/2 now.)
Nixon and Watergate, Clinton with Lewinsky, the "offenses" were bad, but the deceit after the fact was always the bigger problem for me. Please don't turn this into a political discussion, I am only using these as examples.

I'm still shocked the apologists haven't "arrived" yet, they must really be busy fending off the "heathens" on other forums.

I like this statue better.

I would think that the good people of Galveston, TX would be a tad peeved.

I was going to post a fake news story here on April's Fool Day that the Joebots successfully petitioned Verizon to let Galveston and State College swap area codes, but couldn't pull it off.

NBC reporting that as many as six assistant coaches witnessed Sandusky engaged in behavior that was inappropriate or of a sexual nature over the years. Certainly more than the one line Jay would have everyone believe.

Three other coaches — who have gone on to work in the NFL and at Division I colleges — allegedly saw inappropriate conduct between Sandusky and boys in the early and mid-1990s.

"You won't believe what I just saw," one of those three coaches blurted out after bursting into a room filled with Penn State football staff, according to sources who spoke to a person who was in that room.

GS was there from 1990 to 1995. GS went on to work in both the NFL and D1 colleges. As RU4Real said earlier in the thread...

This puts us in a rather uncomfortable position re: Gary.

Geez, someone should go to JoPa's grave and pour gas on it and light it up. Then try putting it out by pissing on his grave. What a complete POS! Hope he rots in hell! He not only knew, but knew it was continuous and pervasive.

You think there's a culture problem at Penn State? Read this article about their gymnastics coaches. I starting getting so physically angry reading each story that I actually had to stop. Sad it's getting overlooked because of the Sandusky news. Since this article was written, 8 more players quit the team and new allegations were published yesterday.

I just read the CNN article: Sandusky victim: Joe Paterno told me to drop abuse accusation. That's absolutely sickening, isn't it?

Yes Spanky, it is to the common reader. However, the BWI crew have already poked holes in the sworn testimony of "Victim A", questioned the credibility of journalist Sara Ganim, witness Bernie McCue and apparently any "low life" from Centre or Clinton Counties. My favorite post is the question "what does Ganim (a PSU alum) have against Penn State?" Hmmm...I don't know? There is this thing known as being "objective". Maybe the girl, as a journalist, can actually be objective about her alma mater?!?! Maybe she understands there are things more important in this world than the legacy of a dead ball coach? Perish the thought, I know.

I wish I knew how to post some screens shots of an argument I'm having vs THE CULT on the USA Today FB comments on this story. These goofs are telling me that I'm not allowed to comment about this since I'm not an alum, LMAO!!!!!!!

If you are running windows you probably have a program called "snipping tool". You can use that to "snip" an image and post.

The punishment meted out does not measure up to the crime and cover up associated with the crimes committed. At a very minimum Paterno's legacy and memories must be deliberately and always remembered as tainted and for the monster that he was.....

A guy like Tickle Monster doesn't stay in one rural area and apply his trade over decades without a lot of help along the way.

Yeah, but he won so many football games.

Unbelievable comment from a PSU defender on another board. This is not a joke:
http://www.dawgshed.com/threads/chi...decades-before-official-action.185993/page-20

"Look, I'm not saying Jerry is COMPLETELY blameless for his current situation. He was known to be a "touchy-feely" guy who was extremely naive in the ways of the world. He would hug and tickle kids and wrestle with them. And showering with kids that aren't yours is really f#cking stupid. It's pretty clear he had boundary issues with these kids but I don't think it was overtly sexual in nature. He left himself wide open for something like this to happen but that doesn't mean he deserves to die in jail. He probably should have been charged in 1998 for the first shower incident and all of this could have been avoided."

Apparently these two people who were molested in 1971 and 1976 are just in it for the money.
