OT: Scott Rolen Elected to HOF

Agree with all of that. And even without HR power- he was still considered one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball. And tgere wouldn’t be many teams that would have not jumped if they could have gotten him straight up for their 1B.
He was a unique player but for over a decade, he was just a dominating baseball player. I do think the coke issue hurt him.
11 gold gloves in 17 years and a lifetime .296 make a great case for Keith to be a HOF member
Might be a drug use backlash holding him back, but Tim Raines made it despite admitting using coke.
Tim was one of the best during the prime of his career (23years) at stealing bases with a .294 lifetime average, but if he's in ,Hernandez deserves a spot in the HOF because of his all around hitting ability and his excellent D.

I think Keith's problem is he played himself on Seinfeld in a few episodes and his acting turned HOF voters against him 😉

Nettles hit .248. Not very good. And yes Schmidt said Rolen was better on D. Dwight Evans was very very good.

Imagine that...a baseball player doing coke ?
Coke is an official sponsor of MLB now, guess Pepsi was back in Tim's day and the reason they kept testing him to make sure coke wasn't in his system.😁

Coke was the official sponsor of the 86 Mets as well.
And a great sponsorship as well. I think it replaced the juice jugs in every clubhouse.
Coke was also the choice of every business in America where employees were young and rich.
Your point?

Coke prevented that team from being a dynasty and turned it into a flash in the pan. That's the point.
