OT: Small plane( Lear 55) crashes onto street in Philly

FAA has confirmed it was a medevac jet with 6 people on board — 4 crew, 2 passengers (a pediatric patient and an adult escort).

They are showing the crater where the plane crashed on 6ABC. It hit a very wide side walk/parking lot exit outside the Roosevelt Mall. Obviously, from all the videos, it was nearly coming straight down. There is hardly any visible debris at the crater as the plane exploded and the debris field is blocks long.

My wife works at the hospital closest to there. They were issued a code white, which means staff has to stay even if their shift is over and any patients who can be discharged must be to make room for incoming injured.
Reminds me of 9/11 when they set up the Summit train station as a triage unit for the hospital anticipating mass casualties coming in on the trains, but unfortunately their were no patients

Horrible tragedy for a humanitarian medical flight to end like this. Really rough week. Thankfully no one on the ground was hurt.
Hopefully that's true but what about the person walking out of the flames on fire? I haven't heard anything about them. I don't think there's any way that can be someone that was on the plane.

Yeah, you hope no one on the ground was killed or seriously injured but with an explosion like that in the middle of a city and the video, the chances are very slim.

Yes, I guess we still have to wait and see.

I'm in Belmont Hills, a part of Bala Cynwyd. Right across from Manayunk!
Sure
I know where that is
I’m up in that area quite a bit as my daughter goes to LaSalle and we meet up in Manayunk quite a bit

Many years ago used to work on Presidential Blvd in Bala

I don’t understand the whole “what happened” mystery.
The jet had a catastrophic failure due to whatever the NTSB comes up with.
Its flight path is 100 percent complete loss of control of the aircraft.
We know what happened, we won’t know what caused it for quite some time.

Exactly. The plane flew almost straight into the ground. What needs to be determined is whether it was mechanical error, pilot error or intentional.

+1
Looks like the plane flew into the ground at full throttle. Very scary.

I don’t really see anyone suggesting otherwise in the majority of this thread.
