There's never been an issue about Petrino's coaching ability, particularly on offense. His personality is another story.
..but he wins. And now they are #3 in the country behind a sophomore QB. And we continue to spin our wheels year after year, after year....
He was one of the guys I wanted a few years ago . We could have hired him in 2013. I wouldn't have cared if he brought Jessica d with .
We have a coach. But I guess if we would fire ash after 3 games briles would be top of the list for some . But we are Rutgers and would hire an unproven assistant on the cheap and pray it works .
I don't believe I ever said that he couldn't coach. Obviously he can coach.
I do believe I indicated that Petrino is a scumbag of a human being. As Popeye the sailor man used to say, "I calls them as I see them"!

Why the rag on Southern Gentlemen day?? Petrino is still a scumbag and time will tell if he goes off the straight and narrow or reverts back to his old behavior like walking out on the Falcons or bopping an athletic department associate. Good for Louisville that Jackson has developed into a star.

I also recall that he could recruit great offensive talent but didn't care that much about defensive talent. He spent the majority of the scholarship offers on offense, not defense. When Petrino left, the cupboard was definitely bare on the defensive side, and thin on the offensive side. He was chasing after something else then, not quality players.
Ironic that Petrino and Pitino are at the same school. Wonder if they ever get together and swap stories. . . . .
BP is a scumbag but he can coach and then he will eventually f over the organization he is with...I really care less about wins then I do about who is mentoring and teaching our players.

Plumb Street....did you attend Rutgers etc. If not then perhaps he could represent your school. Regardless of his record I don't believe most RU alumni look at him favorably.

Petrino is supposedly a scumbag. Jim Calhoun is supposedly a scumbag. I'm sure they both are. Wouldn't have minded either one to have coached at RU if they would win here like they have/had at Louisville and Connecticut. Schiano rubbed a ton of people the wrong way yet most of us loved what he did for the program.

Sorry, of course it doesn't. I didn't type that part out right. Joe Pa was the worst. I find it amazing that people put football over ruining childrens lives.
The other stuff can be overlooked by winning. I work in sales. We have a couple of complete scumbags I work with. But my manager would never fire them. They are great salespeople and snakes. Everyone knows it but they are the top salespeople so their jobs are safe. Now under normal circumstances I wouldn't want a jerk as our coach who wins . But I prefer that over a having a lousy coach.

Chris Ash's coaching IQ is no where close to Bobby Petrino. I too thought Petrino was the answer when Schiano left for TB. The comments were comical.

Coach Petrino and Louisville will win the ACC and most likely go the playoff this year. Trust me, if he does, the Petrino haters will have another excuse or reason to justify passing him up several years ago. Rutgers won't have a caliber team like Louisville for decades.
