OT: SpaceX Starship Launch & Booster Capture - Truly Amazing

Are you unaware that a lot of posts disappear because of indexing issues and that political leanings of the posts have nothing to do with it? And this was the case even before Musk bought twitter? I suppose back then, conservatives would assume they were being censored and now that Musk bought it teh other side is complaining more... assuming censoring.

X help center
Ah, yes. Indexing problems. I'm sure it's all innocent mistakes. Are you really that naive?

And the rest of the comment? About how this has been going on for a long time.. before Musk bought it?

Do you really think a guy as smart as Musk who bought twitter for free speech reasons would subvert that message by censoring liberals? Talk about naive.

Do I think an arch right wing Trump guy would censor left wing posters just before an election? uhhhhh. Yeah, I do. And there is a ton of evidence of it. And yes, the right was censored more than the left under the previous owner. There is nothing illegal about this. Musk has every right to do it. It's not a First Amendment issue. But to say it isn't happening is silly. And naive.

This is the current narrative being pushed by the censorship regime. Of course, there's no evidence to support it, but that is meaningless. Major party leaders ( Clinton, Kerry, Harris, and Walz) have all spoken out recently about how the first amendment is an "obstacle" or a "privilege", & "We need to stop misinformation". Who decides what is/isn't misinformation? Do you really want to go into what as labeled was misinformation during Covid?

They're not hiding it anymore. They want the first amendment to fall. If it does, American falls as well.

TBH, I never thought it could happen here. Our freedoms aren't inherited from our parents, they need to be fought for within every generation.

Musk restored free speech back to X. For that I am thankful. Just refer to the Twitter Files to see how much was censored before.
The First Amendment generally protects speech from government punishment or censorship even if that speech is a lie, so Musk has brought back misinformation on X and making it a valuable X asset for those he supports.
Hell, there are some that don't like what the facts point out, so they claim lies are alternative facts .
Thou shalt not bear false witness is missing from some people's 10 Commandments

There's that word - "misinformation". Amazing that it only applies to positions. opinions or even data that you do not agree with.

Libs love accusing conservatives of doing what the left(Zuckerberg) have admitted to doing. Priceless!

You don't seem to understand the first thing about the First Amendment. Not surprising. And no evidence? Head in the sand. Also not surprising.

As I said, Musk is doing it to the left, and before him it was being done to the right, and there is nothing illegal about either. Zuckerberg does it as well. The only difference is that it is mostly lies coming from the right, but that is to be expected with Trump leading calling the shots. Nothing surprising here.

The easiest thing to do would be to go to X and see how many posters are complaining that their posts have been taken down. Not hard to do.

Tulsi Gabbard was Vice Chair the Democratic National Committee 2013-16
She ran for prez as a Dem (16) - dispatched Harris from primaries in 2 minutes.
Tulsi was Dems best candidate in 16 but didn't know where the bodies were buried like Clinton

This week Tulsi became a Republican.
One reason is the harassment she got from Dem/agency leaders.
She was given a terrorist designation (“SSSS” designation or “Secondary Security Screening Selection,” Quiet Skies) for air travel.

She has been an open critic of the her party's censorship
Same for RFK Jr who was denied a POTUS run as a Dem and was denied Secret Service despite a break-in at his home.
Of course the Secret Service is corrupt now anyway so he might be safer without them.

This week WaPo is refusing to endorse anyone and LA Times did the same earlier.
Teamsters endorsed GOP for 1st time in decades.
Its like a ship jumping exercise.
People don't recognize the old gang
Even Mayor Adams is getting the donkey screw.

Please tell me what I don't understand about the first amendment. Let's start with this: A presidential candidate calling for oversight and regulation of the first amendment. For me that's a nonstarter. What am I missing? Educate me...

Are you talking about this quote from Trump on the 2020 election: “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!”

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; ...." This is what the First Amendment actually says. Trump's quote is the closest thing I can see to violating that statement.

Agreed. Simply provoking you is too low a bar. But do read up on the actual First Amendment and let me know what on earth Belly is talking about. Don't see anyone promoting laws to prohibit freedom of speech. Trying to counter the lies of the right is kind of what freedom of speech is about.

No idea, not reading any of the other posts, just making fun of you. Last I check, Harris has in her campaign platform restrictions on the first amendment. Only justification is "Trump is bad". Hmm.....

Don't see that in her campaign material, although I defend your right to make stuff up -- else you wouldn't have anything to say. Trump wanting to attack the Constitution is about the only thing I can find. The Biden admin's pressuring sites during COVID was upheld by the Supreme Court. You really can't yell fire in a crowded theatre. There's other stuff you can't say either. Libel laws and all. Very few rights are absolute.

No. I'm not talking about Trump at all. Never was. I stated who I was talking and what they recently said regarding censorship and how it relates to Musk and X.

You've provided no evidence of censorship on X.
The Twitter files are real and Zuckerberg confirmed. When asked about quotes from the left about "misinformation" on social media and who gets to decide what it is, you ignore. Or free speech being a "privilege", rather than a right or and an "obstacle"..... ignore .

But, but Trump doesn't work. You love censorship and want more of it. I don't . Loud and clear now.

Of course you're not talking about Trump. He has simply called for rounding up his political opponents using the National Guard and the military. And getting rid of any laws he wants to. Of course you have no problem with that.

Evidence? Here, Forbes magazine: https://www.forbes.com/sites/markjo...is-critics-as-journalists-are-suspended-by-x/

Of you could just go to X and see how many people are complaining about having their accounts censored. Easy to do if you had any interest in the truth.

I have said that both sides have engaged in censorship on social media platforms. And I have said: It is their right to do so if they wish as long as they don't break any laws. Show me the call for censorship in that statement.

All the government can really do is hector them to do better. And they should do better as promoting lies isn't helpful. But they are allowed to do it. There are lines, but simple lying isn't one of them.

This isn't complicated. Just do some actual research.

So you're down to that? I'll try to keep this really simple. X censors a bunch of stuff, but not everything. Thus a person may say, "Hey what happened to my post of x, y, z? And that post may appear. But x, y, and z do not. X does a ton of that. They also ban certain individuals which the Forbes article details.

Not complicated. You simply have to be willing to see the truth. Which is why you and t have so much trouble.

"The Democratic Party left us"
That's exactly how I feel. I'll be proudly voting Republican for the first time in my life this election.

I consider Dem Party "hijacked" ever since MoveOn and certain top gov and industry leaders took aim at "Blue Dogs" and other more moderate types. The Sam Nunns and Joe Liebermans are mostly gone (Sinema was decent). Now its over-saturated with self-aggrandizing, sorority battle axes and chippy femen who see punishing opposition as their main job (notice how they ignore hurricane victims - a big reason for poll surge). Media/academia congratulated them as they drove their hijacked party over a cliff. GOP enabled that by sitting quiet in back seats while getting money from "interests" and worrying about being Russia-gated.

I can identify with some of the emerging panic since I once hated Reagan - a stand-in for some buried resentments I wasn't conscious of. I see the same thing playing out with other people now (especially women). I understand how people "see witches".

"Clinical psychologist Philip Pierce says he was swamped with complaints from patients after Trump won. “It’s a traumatic experience,” he says. “The level of threat — or perceived threat — has gone up. I think you’ll see an increase in panic attacks.” Beyond general dissociative anxiety, some therapists say that the election also has been a trigger for patients with authority issues going back to their childhoods. “[Trump] has triggered certain responses of inadequacy from patients, and a lot of times the people that I see have had very authoritarian fathers,” explains Shaw. “Trump can be seen as this really intense father figure.”

Right now the push is on to mobilize the usual militant groups. This was to be expected. Even Mayor Adams is calling on the radicals to stop labeling other people radicals. The bat-signal is going out

They've done some gymnastics in recent years to become profitable. Ironically it's government subsidies that have helped the company reach profitability in 2020...before that they operated at a loss... without the government Tesla is not profitable. Again nothing justifying a trillion dollar valuation. This is why you see Elon musk wearing cowboy hats and sweat stained trucker hats as if he's "one of the guys"...he's a good marketer...

Without the government, Tesla is just the original 2 founders dicking around with an EV in their garage on the weekend.

Now do GM and Chrysler

Wasn’t arguing against government intervention just pointing out the role of the government in helping Tesla become a real business. If I have a compliant, it’s that the government didn’t receive some equity in the company.

Elon is one of the greatest entrepreneurs in history.

But it should be troubling for everyone how much any one person can put their thumb on the scale of an election and potentially be rewarded with an enormous amount of influence over a government that already pays his companies a lot of money.
