Students are only allowed 3 guests to their graduation. However, 52,000 people are expected to attend. 12,000 students times three is 36,000. Figure another 1000 people for administrating. Who are the extra 15,000 people who are going?

I'm sure there won't be seats available behind the stage.
You did your math wrong. Graduating students are allowed 4 tickets including themselves. So 12,000 students times 4 = 48,000.
Don't forget the whole south end zone does not get used but they are are counting the 12,000 or so graduates sitting on the field. They are also offering 1 ticket for every graduate from Newark and Camden.
On the FB announcement a lot of people are pissed that they cannot bring their whole family and friends. My response to that is that the second it was announced that the President is coming every graduate should have figured that they seats would be limited compared to previous years. They have the option to take the whole family to their school graduation where they actually read their names and they walk across the stage.
Voorhees was limited but since they moved it to the stadium it was never limited and never needed to.Hasn't it always been limited? I recall 5 for mine on voorhees mall.
this is going to be a hoot dealing with this generation's sense of entitlement for the next 50-60 years.
Of course we had to give Newark and Camden students tickets. A lot of NB students were complaining on Facebook.
I didn't count the students in the 52K because they don't sit in stadium seats. I think the Camden and Newark students account for the extras, and the empty seats required by the security detail. You did your math wrong. Negative. The number of tickets per graduate has been reduced to 3. In addition, some 5,000 students from Camden and Newark are being invited to see the President speak. The remainder of the math will be consumed by VIP guests.
The story is all over today's 6:00 news. To the further (continuing) embarrassment of Rutgers, one of the seniors interviewed by WABC-TV was whining about the fact that his 16 family members had already bought plane tickets and now would not all be able to attend. No mention of the fact that they all wouldn't have been allowed to attend, regardless.

I think the family and friends who won't have a ticket can watch on a tv monitor outside of the stadium.
Is anyone here getting in? It is a pretty big deal to get into the stadium.
I went to my nephews graduation at the Big House when Obama was speaker and pretty sure it was only student plus 4 and they have a much larger stadiumPeople need to get over themselves. 4 tickets EACH is plenty to a graduation for this size class.
Hell it's going to be a shit show from Newark down to New Brunswick. Whenever he flies in it's a cluster F for everyone in the POTUS route. Maybe he takes Marine 1 this time and lands somewhere close to NB.While it's great to have the President speak at your University I don't think people really understand what a shit show it causes. I can hardly wait for the students, SL, and faculty to start the onslaught of complaining.

IMPORTANT COMMENCEMENT UPDATE: All Rutgers University-New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences graduates who have already registered for the May 15 commencement ceremony will receive one ticket for themselves plus three guest tickets and one parking pass. The tickets will be barcoded and will not be transferrable. Ticket holders will be required to have photo identification, and all guests must have a ticket regardless of age. While the limit to three guests at the stadium is a change from past practice, it ensures that every graduating student from Rutgers University–New Brunswick and from Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is accommodated. Those graduates who have already registered for their parking pass will be notified when the ticket registration system is open.
Please be aware that Rutgers will be providing viewing sites at other venues—the College Avenue, Livingston, and Busch Student Centers, for example—for additional guests.
Graduates and undergraduates from Rutgers University-Newark and Rutgers University-Camden are being invited to attend the May 15 ceremony. The university is chartering special NJ Transit trains to bring graduates from both locations.
Rutgers University-Newark and Rutgers University-Camden students will continue to graduate with their classmates at those locations.
If you have not already made arrangements for your regalia, please do so immediately. All graduates must wear regalia to be on the field during Commencement.
Further details about the event will be available the week of May 9.
I am. I have a kid graduating.I think the family and friends who won't have a ticket can watch on a tv monitor outside of the stadium.
