UNC clobbered Duke yesterday and local press is going gaga over the re-emergence of Tar Heel FB. Except for the N&O's Dan Kane, who released an article after pouring through the 200k-plus pages of UNC staffer emails that the school finally released after an N&O FOI request. The emails show how the cheating went beyond the AFAM dept scandal the the Wainstein Report focused on, although Wainstein did attached reference docs that pointed to a more pervasive scandal.

One faculty member, Laurie Maffly-Kipp, sought to keep two cases out of the public eye. The university’s student-run honor court had rejected both cases to the dismay of the two distinguished religious studies professors – Bart Ehrman and Jodi Magness – who reported them." In all, evidence has emerged showing at least six departments across UNC participated in the effort of keeping athletes academically eligible. There are quite a few gems in the data dump, which, to it's credit, WRAL posted with an accompanying search application.
So the Heels are bowl bound, perhaps in a New Year’s Day matchup. And the BB team is ranked as the preseason #1 and a favorite to win the National Championship. It's all good on the Hill. Meanwhile, the NCAA's COI prepares to hand the Heels a long overdue punishment, a significant punishment. Can hardly wait.
