OT-Why is Alex Morgan on cover of FIFA 16 & not Carli Lloyd?

Not sure how big of a sales bump there is from creepy guys who will buy a soccer video game because Alex Morgan is on the cover.
I'll take the player with 2 Olympic winning Goals and an epic Hat trick in the World Cup championship game,
not to mention 6 total goals in the recent World Cup PLUS 69 goals scored in International games vs Morgan w a grand total of 1 goal in the recent World Cup

Go ahead, no actual soccer coach would agree. And Morgan was definitely not 100% this WC.
Alex Morgan is recovered and fit, yet she is underperforming. We need her to step up her game for the USNWST.
Well if you remember Anna Kournikova was a good tennis player but didn't win many tournaments but because of her good looks she was on a lot of magazine covers and was the face of female tennis for a bit. In Golf Natalie Gulbis is a good LPGA player but again is not a consistent winner yet she has a nice following along with magazine covers. We are talking about Alex Morgan who is one of the best female players in the world vs. Carli lloyd who is almost as good. But we can easily be talking about Abby Wambach who has similar credentials. The difference is Abby doesn't possess the model type looks that general society looks for.
Now let's look at Alex vs. Carli. In my opinion we are comparing a 1 vs. a 1A in the looks dept with Alex having a slight edge.

She's not the best overall player on the USWNT, but she's the prettiest and the one that young girls around the country can identify with the most. She's a good player on the field, but a marketer's dream off the field - and that's what matters most.
Before Morgan, it was Heather Mitts who while a very good player was never at the same level as Lloyd or Morgan. They pick a type. Kournikova and Gulbis are great examples as a poster pointed out.
While I'm not going to deny looks had something to do with it. Morgan is wildly more popular than Lloyd and it's not even close. I went to their last warm up at Red Bull Arena and every single little girl with a jersey was rocking Morgan gear.
If Morgan wasn't hurt, USA wouldn't have struggled as much early on. You could see the difference in the way the team played once she started to get her legs under her. Of course Carli was the MVP. It wasn't close. But Morgan is a huge piece of this team. And she's beyond beautiful. Her popularity is why she's on the cover. If you asked 1000 random people across the country, more would be able to remember Morgan's name than Lloyd's.
Morgan was on Jimmy Kimmel's show last night. I gotta tell you she's friggin hot.
And from what little I've seen of it over the last few years she's clearly one of the best players in the world.

Actually, as I understand it, she just had knee surgery a few days ago. So, no, she apparently was not fully recovered during the tournament but went out there and gave it her best shot anyway.
Before this WC yes more would be able to remember Alex Morgan. Not any more, they're at worst even in that pecking order. Lloyd is a national hero(ine) now. And I don't agree that Morgan is better than Lloyd either, they're at a similar level but one is clearly clutch under pressure.
George…Alex had surgery last week on her knee, just a scope and not serious, she's expected back in a month or so.
Literally nobody that follows the USWNT outside of tournament season would agree with this. Lloyd is one of the most unique "top level" athletes in the history of sports because she does so many great things at the highest level but makes so many more mistakes than the average player that is of her caliber. I can't even make a comparison to anyone else because there is nobody I think of that has such a large disparity between the good and bad parts of their game than Lloyd in any pro sport.
