OT: Why is Eddie Jordan still...

There are 2.5MM reasons why he is still here and maybe again next year. Hard to believe but possible.

Very broken program - Eddie certainly not the answer. You can cry facilities are the issue all you want, but it goes deeper than that.

Give me a break... Neither Phil Jackson nor John Calipari could win with this team. Now if they were to recruit, it would be a different story, but Eddie still needs time to do this with the very subpar facilities. Perhaps, they should just shut down the RAC and play in Newark.
Where exactly in Newark?

employed at Rutgers? Just to show our commitment to sucking?

He's been here for 2 1/2 years and attracted extremely limited talent to the program. Check out the recruits he's got lined up for next year.
His continued presence as RU's coach for the twice-weekly beat downs merely indicates Rutgers disinterest in fielding a competitive men's basketball team.

He's made close to 3 million dollars since he took the job. It's stealing

I can' wait for when the Real Housewives of the Potomac starts to air with his wife as part of the cast. Just what we need from a P.R. perspective.

You must not watch the games.

Forget about winning.
How about losing by less than 30?
20?
You pick the #

He is not a very good basketball coach. Unfortunately for us he can't recruit either. A bad combination. I know that M. Rice created a mess but he was better than E. Jorden.

This program is a disaster and Eddie is not the guy. We've now gotten a commitment from Trenton on the practice facility. That will make this job more attractive.

it was Kirschner who hired him in a rushed hiring..what he should have done was actually allow Cox to coach that season as the healer to the players since they respected and wanted him there..and after all wasn't all this nonsense in the press about "the players" who by the way were upset Rice was fired. Anyway have Cox as interim and then allow the new AD to decide on a new coach or maybe making Cox full time if he had success

They didn't nickname him "The Thief of Baghdad" for nothing...

PS - Basketball sucks like Soccer

NBA as head Coach W-L, %: 257-343, .428. Why did anyone expect better? And don't say we needed someone to "heal". Winning heals.
Winning heals? That isn't even wrong.

He was a respected alum who coached at the very highest level and had some level of success there. We were coming off a scandal that put us in the spotlight negatively day after day.

EJ clearly is not being successful on the floor. We can all see that. It really looks like he will have to be replaced. But that doesn't mean he wasn't a good choice when the choice was made, given the circumstances. The next coach we hire will come into a much better situation than EJ did. And in part, that will be because he is a good man if not a successful college basketball coach.

I respectfully disagree. Eddie Jordan appears to be a very nice man, but his record in the NBA did nothing to inspire confidence that he would be a good college coach. And by "winning heals," I do not mean hiring a scum bag for the sake of winning. But golly, the last 2 years have taken the program to new lows. And I always felt the reaction to the Mike Rice tapes was completely overblown. Yes, it was wrong, but what Rutgers did was another reaction to Rutgers kowtowing to the media. Rutgers is gonna Rutgers.

Clearly just trying to be offensive for the sake of it.

Not for nothing, but I am not sure EJ was ever accused of having Jersey connections. It was more that fact that he was a coach, an NBA coach, no less, who was actually willing to take the job.

The program is broken. The truth is that no one coach is going to be able to fix it. The best you can really hope for is that EJ gets them to a point where they can finish within a few games of .500 for a couple years in a row, and then maybe we can hire a coach to actually fix the program. Its that far off -- its a 7 year two coach turnaround. If EJ cannot get us to level 1, we will start over again with a new hire. There is minimal talent on the roster, can't recruit anyone who will make the team competitive, no coach who would be capable of fixing it would ever dream of taking the job, arena is sub-par, pracitce facility non-existent when nearly every school we need to compete against has one. EJ is certainly not the answer, but the reality is that there are no answers. The program is a black hole.
No I'm not trying to be offensive and there is nothing offensive about my post, it's the dam truth! You may not like the tone but that's your problem not mine. Eddie Jordan is a dismal failure and anyone on this board with an ounce of integrity will tell you that he was nothing more than a PC hire! Yes, yes we all know M. Rice was a train wreck and we also know he was a better coach than Eddie Jordan. Instead of letting Cox finish coaching the remainder of the year what does Rutgers do? Panic! In the end we're stuck with a guy who can't coach or recruit! The only beaming light is your wrestling program who's led by Scott Goodale, the antithesis of PC.

I'm just not sure what you are saying. Claiming EJ was a "PC" hire seems to imply that he was hired for reasons other than his coaching qualifications. While we may not be thrilled with what EJ has done, he had better (or at least equal) credentials to take over the RU compared to anyone else who would take the job. People thought there was a strong chance he would get the job when Rice was hired. He wasn't the best NBA coach ever, but he was an NBA coach willing to coach at Rutgers, a list that I am pretty confident had only 1 name on it.

I am also not sure why Scott Goodale is the "antithesis of PC." If you watch any interviews with Goodale, or ever get a chance to speak with him, you will see that he is a pretty polished guy. He is never offensive, and damn near always under complete control matside.
