OT: Why is Eddie Jordan still...

I wouldn't call him a friend. He is friend's with my friend and I would see him occasionally. Long story short, I can tell you he was highly interested in the RU job, straight from his mouth. I know he wasn't considered, so for anyone to say he was but had expectations that were out of line with RU isn't being factual because they never discussed it.

Can you enlighten me where you got your information?

I think Eddie is here because nobody - and I mean nobody - wants this job.

If there is someone who wants this job the odds are that they stink.

Like Groucho Marx once said, "I wouldn't want to join any club that would have me as a member". I wouldn't want any coach willing to take this job unless and until there is a quantum leap made in the facilities to help attract recruits.
Just so incorrect it's beyond belief.
Programs and facilities evolve together.

Give me a break... Neither Phil Jackson nor John Calipari could win with this team. Now if they were to recruit, it would be a different story, but Eddie still needs time to do this with the very subpar facilities. Perhaps, they should just shut down the RAC and play in Newark.
I dont buy the facilities. Thats an excuse so people dont notice that wew continue to spend bottom dollar on coaches (yes, Jordan gets more than we usually pay, but not that much more.) IF we want to win right away, we need to pay big bucks for coaching now. Do what it takes to lure a great coach from a top 40ish non-P5 team. Hell - even promise the facilities down the road. But getting the facilities, then hiring a Jordan level coach isnt going to get us a winning team at this point - just one thats not quite so bad.

The guy inherited the worst program in the country. The Mike Rice stains still permeate the program. Thanks Pernetti!

Eddie gets a lifetime contract in my eyes.

thanks Uncle Bob
Program was bad before Mulcahy ignored it and that started before 1990.
Uncle Bob's problem was that he tried to run it on the cheap and his gamble on Hill make it more expensive.
Then you have Pernetti gamble on Rice, turned out to be more toxic for RU than Hill's baseball fetish .
Don't forget Bannon and the naken free throw PR hit along with the Littlepage era.
Mulcahy's era wasn't good for the RU MBB program and some of the other sports, but in MBB's cse Bob Mulcahy's treatment of the program was only one of the many problems it had for years starting from before the 1990s and still happening now.

There's got to be a Rutgers version of Jim Boeheim out there somewhere. There are top basketball programs in Kentucky and Kansas for goodness sake. You could not pay me enough to live there.

However, don't get me wrong, I am still holding onto the hope that the talent in NJ will eventually see Eddie's NBA pedigree and come to Rutgers. I really want this guy to succeed and I am willing to wait 1-2 more seasons. He's from Rutgers so he is one of our own.
