Penn State up 12 with 5:59 left first half.

Come on Illinois, wake up.

Since Penn State have gone small they are tougher

PSU up 34-22 in first half...at Illinois

they are playing really well right now, lets see if the Illini come back.

this is when I caution people about RU's ascension up the Big 10 ladder. Its not like the teams currently behind us in the standings do not have the same ability to jump up the standings. PSU went from losing 10 of 11 and now they are playing at a pretty high level.

Bad news for us. If we tie with Penn State they win the tiebreaker.

If we tie with PSU, we win the tie breaker right now, since we beat them head to head - pending what happens on 3/6.

The bigger question is if there's more than a two-way tie, it goes to a "mini-conference" setup where the teams' records against each other are taken into account. We have wins over PSU, Indiana, and Northwestern... and losses to Illinois and Northwestern. With games @Indiana and vs. PSU still to come.

Psu been playing well for weeks now.

I havent looked at stats but appears to me theyre killing illinois on the boards and 50/50 balls something that hopefully we’ll do better than the illini

I didn't watch much of that half, but some key stats.

Most important, of course, is PSU is up 39-32.

Shooting: PSU 14-28 FG%, Illinois 11-31. Hot/cold shooting? Good/poor defense? I have no idea as I didn't watch a lot.

FT - PSU 8-10, Illinois 7-14. Two of their bench guys went 1-4 each. That's a major reason for the lead.

Fouls - PSU 11 fouls, Illinois called for 10 with nobody above 2 for either team. Could be important if guys end up in foul trouble.

Lamar Stevens has 15 pts.

Illinois still has to go to PSU before the end of the season....would not be shocked to see Illini win at Happy Valley, regardless of today's result.

They are a funny team. I think Illinois struggles most with teams that drag them into the mud and play ugly like Penn State and us. As bad as Penn State's record is, they slow the game down better than almost anyone.

This is getting good. What a terrible call there. The turkey wing move. Not the screen.

How in the world could they call that a foul on Illinois? Was he supposed to pull his head away from the PSU guy's elbow? And they were going to count a bucket that didn't even go in, after reviewing the video? This officiating is a joke.

The moving screen fouls were all good calls but the technical foul seems to have fired up the Illini.

Off topic - what the heck happened in the 2nd half at Louisville? Cards were up 10 on the Cavs. Second half scoring: Virginia 37, Louisville 15.

I really hate that I'm hoping Illinois wins because I absolutely hate them, their fans, their coach, and the way they play.

Illinois should attack Watkins. If they get him fouled out too, who can cover the inside for PSU?

And now four on Wheeler. Good call on the pushoff.

I don't. As a B1G school in think they are closer to us than any other program. Maryland would be in that mix but far ahead in bball,

Pretty much ensures that 5 wins won't enough to keep us out of last.

That assumes Northwestern will win at least two of these:

02/23/19 WISCONSIN 8:30 PM
02/28/19 MINNESOTA 9:00 PM
03/03/19 at Illinois 6:30 PM
03/06/19 OHIO STATE 9:00 PM
03/09/19 PURDUE 2:30 PM

Possible but that's an uphill climb.
