If these next 2 seasons are as bad as the past 2, not only will he get fired, but I would also question his place in Rutgers history. Bringing us from abysmal to mediocre and then falling backwards again isn't honestly all that impressive
I am sure he would have turned down Ace and Dylan! It might not be his usual preference, but he would have gladly coached them and done a much, much better job with them than Pike.
I have not given a penny for the same reason I don’t invest in Jim Cramer suggested stocks. You don’t invest in things with mediocre or uncertain returns. If Rutgers basketball wants me to donate, fire Pike and show me that you can have a team that can be more than a bubble team in its best years (I get the one year exception to the rule during the Houston loss year).
No i do not love mediocrity thats why i we need to give more money. When our problem is not being able to afford more than two good players, yes you need to throw money at the problem.
Probably would not turn them down but he would not actively recruit them when he can go get an elite junior or senior in the portal. He wouldnt recruit them at the detriment of the team blowing all the NIL money on them.

The 24 recruiting class had less than zero upperclassmen support, and that is firmly on Pike
The new Prez and AD can't afford NOT to buy him out if he can't retain at least 75% of his 24 and 25 classes
We need to relax. Pikiell is the best coach in Rutgers history. We have had two average seasons compared to Rutgers standards. Those two seasons happen to involve NIL and we happen to have below average $$$.
We need to make things right on NIL so our staff can put together a complete team. Until that happens we cant do anything.
You better just hope the new president is a sports advocate. Worrying about Pike is asinine when you consider real consequences.

1) I am a Pike fan, however facts are facts. Harper and Bailey were anomalies, and his 21, 22 and 23 classes were unproductive.

After 30 years of futility he had four straight tournament caliber teams. (2020 canceled and 2023 robbed). He will always have a positive legacy here.
My guess is it will be similar to Bob Wenzel's legacy.

That would be 11 years, 3 tournaments (I give him the covid year), the Ace/Dylan debacle season, and an overall program in decline. I give him credit for digging out, but he sure does seem to get a lot of adulation on here for something that feels really ordinary to most.
It makes no sense to fire Pike and have to eat his contract... USE that money to get the players that fit what Pike wants to do. Start donating to NIL people or stop complaining...

So what? We also weren't in the B1G, nor were we bringing in as much or more media money as any school in the country. It's a different world now, but you keep anchoring your expectations based on the 1990's. Lots of relevance to today for sure. Or maybe not so much to most of the world. Doing a liitle better overall than an unacceptably low bar of a no longer relevant expectation, and then failing to even deliver that anymore, isn't exactly something to celebrate.
Had Pike kept the arrow moving up, it would be a different conversation. But he hasnt and this is a program in significant decline again. With a coach who seems largely overwhelmed by the current environment.
Rutgers fans need to grow a set and lose the eternal loser mentality.

Back in 2010, there were a lot of people who wanted to run Lord Greg out of town.
Those same people wanted him back badly in 2019 as the “only one” who could do it here.
I don’t think Greg is the only one who could succeed here, nor is Pikes but you are taking a great risk starting over.
