what is with you guys in the "rac" family...can you guys not chew gum and walk at the same time :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: meaning...why can't both things be true? why can't we not be as good as the other team AND the officials not be good/consistent?

for crying out loud, have you ever heard a commentator question the officials as much as yesterday? the guy was practically saying the calls sucked. and they did

doesn't change the outcome of the game...but call a spade a spade

why is this so hard for you guys to comprehend?

ATTENTION ROCK!!!
ATTENTION BAC!!!

Did you read this Purdue fan's post?

What do you think about what he said??

there will always be games that there are missed calls and one side gets an advantage..that is not my point, my point is EVERY game in the game thread, RU fans are bitching right from the get go about every missed call...yet nothing about missed calls the other way. Not going to argue a few missed calls a game, its part of the game and will always happen. Big East refs were far worse. RU got callled for 6 fouls in the first half yet people started bitching already, Purdue with just 2 foul shots.

There are many missed calls during the game. How about the non call on Getty's elbowing like 4 times on Hass. Crowd saw it...no call

People don't get it. If we won the game by 100 I still would be upset with the officiating - nothing to do with the score, the outcome, that's NOT IT .. it's that there's a reoccurring effect and the team knows it causing them to change how they play since against every top dog right when we seem to be closing in all of a sudden the whistles start blowing for touching the other team off ball and we get OBVIOUSLY whacked on the ball in the middle of the court and nothing ... win by 1 or lose by 30 the team should not have to play 8 on 5 because the B1G refs psychologically favor the old dogs of the Big Ten.

Do Rock and Bac agree or disagree with this post?

Do Rock and Bac think that was a foul on Williams when he was boxing out Haas?

That was a strange play for the refs...He was initially boxing out, however Haas caught that rebound without fouling, and was going right back up with it as Williams was still in the process of boxing him at. So technically it was the right call. Body foul/shooting foul.

Rutgers was never winning this game, but the foul trouble for Gettys and Doorson are what turned this game into a 20 point loss as opposed to a 10-12 point loss. Once they were in foul trouble, Haas had his way with Diallo.

No Rutgers fan complained when Gettys blatantly pushed Swanigan (could have been Haas) twice with a full extended forearm to the back. It was so blatant the crowd booed. Crowds never see off the ball stuff.

I think we went about 37 minutes or so before there was shooting foul against us. Unreal. I have never seen that before. The Purdue players must have been Angels.

There was no reason for them to foul us. They couldn't shoot over the trees and they missed god knows
how many 10 footers

In fairness, the lack of a foul call against Gettys on Haas was well after the numerous questionable fouls against Gettys.

Conspiracy? Was this after the 12 min timeout when the refs got together to say lets even things out? lol

they questioned like two calls...posters are exaggerating here...usually when the announcers say the guy didnt foul RU, posters here are attacking the announcers

Yes, bad foul calls have really hurt us..talentwise, we are not that far off - just a really good big man and point guard away. Outside shooting is not really the difference - it's foul shooting and "garbage buckets" - too many easy putbacks for other teams. U put the 1978-79 Bailey on this team, we could contest for league title

Can't tell if this post is serious.

Of course it is serious - how many games could/should we have won with good foul shooting alone..and how many more easy put backs have the opposition had than us..

looked at my #s. Purdue is #2 in the country in least amount of FT/FGA given up. Their opponents don't go to the line.

If Haas stays and he should he'll be a 1st Rd pick next year.

He has a big upside and is the kind of guy that becomes a 7-8 year NBA player.

He is a junior and averages 5.2 rebounds a game at 7 2. Late second round.

Bump for NW game. Keep those cards and letter coming in. Did you see that non call by the refs on Sanders turnover at the end? My lord!

Actually thought the officiating was done very well tonight, the first time I can remember in a while. Not even just towards Rutgers, but they called fouls that were fouls on both ends and made no questionable calls or anything that changed the flow of the game which we see too often. I think it's part of that psychy that the refs have, NW is the only team that hasn't been successful in bball longer than RU.

Thanks for poking the bear.

Did you like the 3 step walk by Northwestern in front of our bench for 3 with no dribbles?

Or the no contact foul call on Gettys where even the announcers said there was nothing there?

Are you frigging kidding me with this? THE REFS STOLE THIS FRACKING GAME FROM US TONIGHT. The phantom offensive foul call on Gettys' putback (4 point swing there), and then the MOST RIDICULOUS NON-CALL I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE WHEN OMORUYI WAS MAULED IN THE PAINT AND NO FOUL CALL. Those two calls changed the game entirely.

I'm not usually one to say that refereeing actually changes the game outcome, but tonight, the refs absolutely robbed us of a victory. And please don't tell me our FTs or TOs are the culprits. We shot FTs exactly as we have all year -- poorly -- and we actually turned the ball over less than 10 times tonight. The actual difference tonight was getting royally screwed on those two calls in the critical closing minutes of the game.

So enough with the sarcastic BS putting down people who criticize the refs. If you can't see that we got screwed tonight, I don't know what to tell you. We got screwed.

Royally.
