Politi's take (not behind a paywall)

Politi makes some of the same criticisms that posters here have made. He notes that Wimsatt is not running the ball, either because his ankle is still bothering him or because he's not seeing the field as he should be. (My guess is that it's the first.) https://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/...to-michigan-state-politis-5-observations.html
Agree with the article completely.

Greg is stubborn, and he may be the only person who would defend his clock management at end of first half.

Also, crashing the victory formation is bush league crap.

Crashing the line has been discussed over 1k times by this board and Schiano himself. If you don’t like it don’t watch. Love how we now listen to Steve Politi about the QB Wimsatt and why he’s not running more. Here’s the fact . He is basically our ONLY QB worth anything ( no offense Noah). Vedral is still not 100% .Lastlynwho do you want to take the majority of the snaps these last 2 B1G games?

Bush league crap
I maintain bush league to you but maybe not so. If we miraculously do recover the ball we get it with 58 seconds. Both teams were ready on that play or did you not see that.BOTH teams expected Rutgers to do that so no surprise on that BUSH play. We have had teams over the years do much worse and bush things.

Schiano basically begging the FBS for a rule change on Victory Formations; if a team can mathematically run down the clock to :00 without another first down and the opponent is out of timeouts, then they can elect to claim victory at that point.

... or we can wait for some 3th-string walk-on lineman to get crippled during one of these scrums.

I see the argument against him and I see Greg's argument. This is one area where I'm really not interested in Politi's opinion. In a one-score game, I understand the coaching philosophy that says you play 100% until the final whistle, even if I am unnerved by the risks.

I’d guess it’s the ankle, he’s shown before the injury he’s not afraid to take off and run. And to me, he hasn’t looked as fast the last couple weeks as he did before the injury.

We can have different opinions on this. I bet if it was put up to vote, most coaches don't pull that bush league move. Actually, have only seen it by Schiano coached teams. Maybe if he was not busy conversing with Korsak, focused on clock management and did not have so many substitution penalties, he would not have to resort to bush league crap with a all chance for success.

We have too many bleeding hearts who look for any way to criticize Rutgers…Rutgers players …Rutgers coaches …most never played beyond Little league ,Pop Warner, Biddy Basketball..
No Bob, that's not true. Today was textbook poor coaching. Sorry if that hurts your feelings. Greg is being paid $4 million per year. Some of us donate a lot of money to the program and expect better.

Who gives a shit what other coaches think ? I have seen it done many times in the Pros and in college.” nobody cares about you taking a vote. These two teams were ready on that play…watch the play and you will see.

So now it’s the poor coaching.not the “bush Play” You don’t hurt my feelings .You are the guy whining about it being “bush”…You are the guy who has been crying.Oh and by the way …As for “ some of donate a lot of $$$$” …I am one of them …I go back to the late 60’s with Rutgers. And sometime ago Rutgers released the info on donations based upon the number of alums and ticket holders…So I know where I stood then against the so called donors .The list would have surprised many how little people contributed. It is why we are still begging people weekly for NIL $$$$. Remember when he does turn this around. I would expect you to magnanimously admit Schiano did it again .Turn Rutgers into a better than average B1G team.I know you’ll do that ….right Knight Shift?

Is that directed at Greg? 😜

Explaining? He is not explaining anything. He is opining.
The guys point is…Politi will write anything for clicks .You are one who evidently looks for assurance on your feelings from this shill for NJ.com.Goodnite …GO RU !!!!!

He’s a sportswriter who has proven over the years to be let’s just say not really an intellectual. If he’s you’re guy that’s fine
He's actually not my guy. Generally, his writing style has an attention whore aspect to it. But I am open-miinded and like to read and hear from people I genet disagree with, and I am not afraid to admit when I agree with an opinion espoused by Politi.

You play to the gun.

Tom Coughlin is an old douchebag and Mel Tucker is an unoriginal, thieving dipsh*t.

Hope Greg told him to F himself during the handshake which appeared less than cordial.

Who's crying now, Bob? At this juncture, unless he stops micromanaging the offense and turns special teams over to a position coach, not so sure he will do it again I would be thrilled if he does, but even loyal fans are permitted to have and express their doubts, aren't they? Or is this an echo chamber?

No, Bob, that's not what is happening. It is called having a discussion about the thread topic.

Its probably because Schiano told him not to run
It was the same way with Teel
People were critical of Teel not running and when asked why he didn't run Teel said "coach told me not to"

And that’s ok …if Greg is telling him not to run it is for a reason…You have NO other viable QB’s …Simon…nope…Vedral…nope….that’s why.

People forget things like the Graber -JoePa incident back at Giants stadium. You want to talk bush league….now that was bush league. Teams know he will do that and he would expect them to do the same. You play until the final whistle especially when you still have a chance.

Politi is an idiot. Every once in awhile he gets something right. This is one of those.

Penalties = bad cosching

Not trying to score with the ball, 3 timeouts, and 1:40 on the clock = bad coaching

Crashing the v formation = bush league

Has any team ever gotten a turnover at the end of the game rushing the line and come back to win it?

I might be able to buy it in a 1-score game. But yesterday you're down 2 scores....that's Bush

Wrong The only thing that will result in is one day one of your kids geting hurt.
In the history of football has that ever worked. Maybe it has but I'm not aware of it.
I'm a GS fan but I hate that play.
I recall we did it once (against WVU maybe?) and the snap was fumbled as a result...but RU got flagged for jumping offsides.
