Up to this point I am very pleased with what I'm seeing from Ash and co. They seem to have a structured solid plan on how to achieve their goals. The staff is instilling discipline in the team. Something much needed. Ash seems to hold teaching basic fundamentals in high regard another area which was sorely lacking. They're relentless on the recruiting front. A trait which should yield them continued success on the recruiting trail well after the new coach luster has worn off.

And finally they seem to learn fast. This group never put on a camp before. They just ran one for 1,000 kids and from all indications it ran smooth. This is indicative of a staff that knows their jobs and works well together. It's just a glimpse, but you can see how well organized and run practices are. Compared to the last staff it's simply night and day.

Very happy so far. Their just seems to be a refined air around the program and Ash has seemed to galvanize a fed up if not, fickle fanbase. He and the staff he's assembled have done a great job recruiting and have restored positive energy and a sense of school pride in a relatively short time. Patience will be key this year, but I cannot foresee the level of frustration our coach put us through last year. I believe that Ash gets it.

Seriously, how can you not be happy. My big fear is the middle of the season, not for Ash, he knows that it will take time to get the players that fit his system, but for this board that will turn into a s#itshow when the record is terrible.
if there's one thing you can be sure of, Its that the board will turn into a shit show during the season

Regardless who is the head coach the won/loss record is the stat that ultimately shows where the program is at a given point in time.

Eh this year is totally different. We have a ok team in terms of talent, but many do not fit the brand new systems that we are instilling, especially the offense. It going to take a while. But I would rather lose a couple of games this year that we weren't supposed to lose and be ready to fire on all cylinders in 2017 and win some games we weren't supposed to win.

I don't agree with this for the 1st few years of a new coach's tenure. Especially when they come in after coaches were fired. There's a reason the old guy was fired. He basically screwed up royally. In many cases leaving the team in worst shape then when he found it. New offense/defense or not, it takes time to undo what the previous staff screwed up. Ultimately, yes they are not new coaches and record will determine their fate.

While HCRE is a disaster, always....... I find this amazing:

Maryland Randy Edsall D.J. Durkin 39 11 28 72%

I think one of the no votes was Al Golden.

So far everything has gone as right as can be. We'll see what happens when the season starts, but there sure seems to be a lot of reason for optimism so far for the long haul.

So 5 Michigan fans voted...
Mich fan here. I didn't vote but do have some thoughts.
1. I think ash was a good hire for Rutgers
2. As a Mich. fan I lived through a transition from Pro Style to spread offence. It didn't go well with out players recruited for the spread. What sticks out most was lack of a QB. You have to Give Ash 3 to 4 years to get his recruits matured and in the game.

I'm curious what Rutgers fans expectations are for Wins and Losses this year? What's acceptable for a new Head Coach trying to change the culture and offence? He took a big gamble taking this job and I'm sure the administration gave him assurances that made him comfortable. You the fans must have realistic expectations for the first couple of years.
Just my 2 cents.

Here are the stats using rivals rankings 16 vs. 17 current on coach changes:

Rutgers is most improved in ranking 47 spots and 3rd by percent improved at 66% (77 to 24).

I read that chart a different way. Al Golden was one place shy of a top 20 recruiting class. What good did it do him? Our current class is below his. NOT complaining, of course, I'm very happy with how Ash is representing the program. Just pointing it out.

You're f***ing crazy if you think 80% of new coaches could recruit this way

Your f***ing illiterate if you think that's what I wrote.

And, eceres' table supports my off the cuff percentage. I would say 5 of those 24 are recruiting poorly, as opposed to "well"
