I mean, I agree with you that Rutgers should either make a real commitment to succeeding at the highest level of college athletics or find its way back down to the AAC. But realistically I don’t think they will do either.

Frustrating but fair
My point is all of the “ It’s Rutgers” or the ptsd thinking has to stop.
There are no excuses. Pike, nice coach to a level which he reached 6 years ago and has been sinking fast. It’s not the school or any other excuse it’s the coach.
I mean if you don’t think Pikiell would win more games at, for example, Michigan then I don’t know what to tell you.
Even if you think he is a bad coach you have to admit he is *also* working at a disadvantage in other areas.
No I don’t think he would win more games at Michigan or Duke or any other blue blood. He’s a bad X and O coach.

The disadvantages are
- NIL budget
- Institutional support (less than in the past, but still)
- Program reputation
Yes talent will win out but you need to understand how to assemble talent and put them in positions to succeed.
Easiest example: Pike is possibly the worst, but let’s say bottom 5 in offensive coaching philosophy and teaching in the country.
Currently. Ru having one of its best offensive years and definitely best under Pike. Why??? Did Pike learn how to understand and teach offense OR are Ace and Dylan so unbelievably talented that they are scoring on ISO opportunities against double and triple teams.
Nil budget- We have more money on the floor then every team we played this year.( maybe Bama has us beat).
Institutional support completely fair. No president. No AD , and lack of commitment from the board.
Reputation absolutely fair. This starts with us. Stop with the whining and PTSD thinking. Demand greatness and hold coaches accountable .
Again, all I’m asking you to admit here is that literally any coach would win more at Michigan than Rutgers. It doesn’t require you to admit anything about Pike.

Pike would not win more or even make it more than 3 years at Michigan.
If we were Michigan he would have been fired after he lost the Minnesota game and cost us the tournament 4 years ago.
You think Pike is a great coach not given opportunity to succeed. When in fact he was given that opportunity and failed in historic fashion.
You’re giving a hypothetical to support a point you have. I am providing you actual real factual data that Pike failed.

If Hobbs didn’t f up with Pikes contract you could have had Pitino for less money. We could have had Williard before he went to Maryland. We could have poached May year before Michigan. You just need a highly competent AD .

If you are a Pittsburgh Pirates fan you may not want to except mediocre result, but expecting great performance with a limited budget is going to leave you disappointed way more often than not.
I don't think we are at a disadvantage as bad as the Pirates, but you can't just wish the disadvantages away.
Wednesday or Thursday night when the season is over hopefully Pike can really self reflect and come up with a strategy that can maximize results given what we have to work with.
What scares me is the foundation of the program in my eyes has been a shot blocking 5 and good ones might break the bank. I'd love one but don't see us getting one.

The high major coach is successful working with players major programs didn't want. The major program recruit most of the times is a different animal.
You think Pitino was going to choose a school that lacked for NIL? At this point in his career, he’s only adding to his legacy and his competitiveness not his wallet.
If you’re a player, do you care about getting life altering bank or playing for a HOF coach?
