Former Rutgers football players charged in a series of three armed home-invasion robberies this spring in this city and on the university's Piscataway campus took "trophy" pictures of their drug and cash loot and left a trail of incriminating text messages — and even a fingerprint — a prosecutor said Wednesday.

BTW Boggs hamming it for the camera is a fool

So what happens when a trial is arranged? Is it to schedule the actual hearings?

These are the same prosecutors who came out looking kind of inept when all the Sayreville HS hazing /sexual assault indictees got off of all the serious charges and only got convicted of the lesser charges. Sounds like they might have over charged looking for plea deals, and then came out on the short end.
Not saying any of those ex RU players charged were 'over charged' w prosecutors looking for flips and plea deals, but it can't be discounted, nor can the timing of the RU charges coming 2 weeks after the Sayreville cases blew up in their faces, kind of takes the attention off the Sayreville embarrasment and puts it on older RU Football players cases.
I'm guessing some of the same defense attorneys will be seen again, especially with the Stephonson brothers coming from .....you guessed it.. Sayreville HS.

Boggs wearing Tennessee colors.

ahhhh- but the shirt under the shirt looks to be Miami and that would explain it. hmmmmm

anyway- at first, as I am reading the article- I am thinking a very NPC thought and was laughing at myself that this kid Chen, has to be the smart mastermind...and then I get to the last sentence, and find out I had it correct. oh man

Hate to ask this question ... Were any of the perpetrators Criminal Justice majors?

Disturbing
- either they (Johnson & Boggs) are truly Idiot Amateurs - who think this is a joke - stupidly mixing it up with drug dealers & playing it out in the fast lane where the cops shoot live bullets too
- or they were pretty much masquerading - leading a dual life of part college football player and then part street criminal / wanna be gangster - and goofing off in the court room like it is all no big deal - cause they are counting on getting out.

He also gave up a 34 yard pass play during the final drive of the penn state game last year. That ends up being one of the best things he did here. "Hey mom, look at what a success I've become!"

Wow! Perhaps these morons should look into another field - it seems like they score very low aptitude wise for the profession of criminal.

These pics of Boggs will go viral on a bunch of blogs and websites, just wait. What a scumbag.

My question is how the RU staff brings a player like Boggs into the program and allows him to maintain his place on the team. Maybe we need to give additional weight to character qualities in the future. Boggs appears to be a common criminal. I don't think any of us RU FB fans signed up to accept this type of person into our program.

While I don't disagree with you, I think that others might.

Good question,

Teejay Johnson looks like he has aged 20 years.

Can we call these guys thugs or is that still a misunderstood word around here?

I agree but how can you predict with 100% certainty? F#&# ups make it into all aspects of society undetected for years until they snap.

Can't predict with 100% certainty, but if a kid is disrespectful of authority and has had a checkered career with the law through high school then there is reason to believe that with even greater freedom in college he may turn into a bad apple.

I'd be surprised if these were the first incidences of these types for Boggs and Johnson. These were planned criminal acts and not some spur of the moment disagreements among students. The trophy photos of the loot indicates that they were proud of their actions. IMO these were not the actions of good kids who unfortunately made a bad decision.

When you add in the recent actions of Peele and Dailey it's pretty clear that we had some bad apples on the team. I hope that the FB staff will take steps to try to prevent bringing in these types of players in the future, as best they can.

Wtf is Boggs making those faces for? Making a mockery of the situation. Wish those cops had beat some sense into him after practice

It's one thing to bring someone into the program but it's another have him remain in the program. There had to be signs or red flags with this kid the past year +. Either way I don't want to hear on signing day about how we're recruiting kids that fit the Rutgers program.

cant disagree with anything you wrote

and they wont learn their lesson....guys like Boggs, Peele and Johnson will continue to be degenerate thugs until they either bomb out and get shot or become lifers in OZ where they become someones bitch...good riddance to these assholes

We've taken in questionable kids that have turned out great though. It works both ways.

Boggs is just scared and trying to mask it by being an idiot. He is in way over his head. Imagine last week you had everything at your fingertips, meals, clothing, tutors for each class...Now limited to the amount of time he can be outside, limited to a small cubicle with another grown ass man. He is frightened and knows no other way to act to try and portray that he's ok. He's not. He will probably serve a good part if not all of his 20's in prison. So sad.
