Prosecutor: Rutgers players took photos of loot, sent texts

Boggs is just scared and trying to mask it by being an idiot. He is in way over his head. Imagine last week you had everything at your fingertips, meals, clothing, tutors for each class...Now limited to the amount of time he can be outside, limited to a small cubicle with another grown ass man. He is frightened and knows no other way to act to try and portray that he's ok. He's not. He will probably serve a good part if not all of his 20's in prison. So sad.
Exactly

My question is how the RU staff brings a player like Boggs into the program and allows him to maintain his place on the team. Maybe we need to give additional weight to character qualities in the future. Boggs appears to be a common criminal. I don't think any of us RU FB fans signed up to accept this type of person into our program.

Well then the expectations should be a little lower. If you want Naval Academy guys yer gonna get Naval Academy performance.

btw 93 grams is 3 ounces. Not exactly the mounds of pot the paper would have you believe they were displaying as "trophies".

This has all the makings of another sensationalized group arrest by the Middlesex sheriffs that is thrown out in court when the actual facts are challenged.

Another person that makes excuses for stupid players. My word this board is hitting rock bottom

Seriously? The amount of pot is an excuse? My word. We don't want that type of kid at RU!

I don't think he was excusing the crime. I think he was merely saying that the MCPO and the media rather sensationalized the quantity.

I agree. It reminds me of the Old Days, when you'd hear reports on the news about "Police seized 20 ounces of marijuana with an estimated street value of 15 MILLION DOLLARS!!"

Sure is. How did these even qualify to get into Rutgers?
We can now officially retire the "Rutgers kids" mantra that many spew on here after Rutgers gets that hidden gem 2 star.

Those pictures are disturbing that those two still don't get it.
How did they qualify - by being good at football and being able to write their name basically.

Da Fuq's your problem?
What was wrong with his statement. Reality is that RU takes this type of player because its hard to find players who are both high talent and high integrity, and its even harder to get them to come here.

So if we want military character guys - we should be satisfied with Navy level results - in essence - we should just agree that years like last year are the good times.

Not that we should take known criminals - but if we want to be good, we will likely have to take some character risks.

Didn't we think that we were kind of doing that with Schiano and Flood at the helm? Seems to me, we've still had a lot of high character guys overall come through the program.

pssst... you're trying to make sense out of an inside joke.

The fact that you forgot about a revolver, a bat and a knife.
Didn't forget, I completely ignored the story until now because I was out enjoying the long holiday weekend. Frankly the first I'm reading actual details is today. None of the stories I've read mentioned any weapons beyond a cellphone.

But thanks to you both for letting me know exactly what I'm thinking.

What does "Navy level results" mean? You mean winning 103 games since 2003? 11 bowl games in 12 years? Multiple wins against Notre Dame? Bowl win against Mizzou?

Those kinds of results?

If you want to make a high character, low football success analogy, we all know it begins and ends in West Point...

Plus, they had 30 cadets go to the infirmary after a pillow fight

A lot of people just don't get it. He is a gang member. He probably couldn't care less about going to prison. Its a totally different reality for people like that. Of course, the first night in the can, reality will hit. But it is what it is. He will go away for a few years and either learn a lesson, or get accustomed to being inside and go in and out for the rest of his life.

Either that's some tough pillows or some soft Cadets.

It's an annual tradition up there in Candyland...the plebes have a giant pillow fight to finish off the summer training.

Some General somewhere decided it was getting too violent and they shold wear helmets to prevent injury. Well, some plebes got pissed this year and put their helmets in their pillow cases and started cleaning house. 30 cadets sent tothe hospital with concussions, broken jaws, sprained necks, a broken eye socket.

They should have limited it to the football team. They haven't hit and hurt anyone in a decade and a half...

I laughed at this as well. The impressive haul of less than a quarter pound. Probably worth about $900-$1000 in actual street value.

He still has it pretty good. Can't tell you how often I cannot make time for 3 meals in a day and an hour of outdoor recreational time.

Front page APP....sad lives down the drain for what ? I for one will never get this type of behavior for the benefit one might get. These kids were given a lifeline to a stable life for themselves and their family. They chose to throw away the line and swim with sharks.

To those who had previously said Rutgers should lower the standards to let these types of folks into the school, I'm curious what you are thinking now?

The question is what does this do to our recruiting efforts for those kids who need the lifeline and will turn thier lives around. There are many......

recruiting will pick up due to this incident. Flood has become more of a celebrity and so have the players. Sucks, but thats how it goes in this crazy thing called college football.
