According to an article on Scout. He was originally listed as being 185. I know he has a big frame at 6' 5", but that seems to be quite a significant increase.

This just proves he's working hard and improving on all aspects of his game. He'll be competing for a starting spot by next year and who knows, he could make some noise this year. He's got the "IT" factor, super competitive and would have been a more highly recruited if he had played for one of the power parochial schools.
Looking forward to seeing reports from training camp on his performance.

He will red shirt this year, see how everything plays out..He'll find out soon enough (in camp) if he slapped on to much weight.

Any chance he ends up playing another position?

I think that depends on Barwell's eligibility and if it looks like Peele doesn't work out. His length will certainly help in the defensive backfield. And imagine Dare and Turay on special teams blocking kicks?

Is Dare in the same stratosphere as Turay athletically? Not being sarcastic, they are the same height, but Turay gets up there on those kick blocks, so not sure if Dare would be able to compare. If he can, that's great for us.

at 6'5" i think Dare might be too tall for a DB, but again, I don't know his athleticism.

Is this a freaking joke?

Edit: oh good,.it is.

At that weight I don't see any reason why he would have to. 6' 5' and 225 lbs seems like a good size for a QB. He could gain even more and still be at appropriate weight for the position.

Any chance he catches Yinka Dare who stood 7'1", and checked in at 265.

If he keeps putting on that weight, I think it'd be better to move him inside. He'd make a hell of a pulling guard with his athleticism.

DJ- I would think that being a QB at one point if his career may actually make him more suited to be a center.

It's standard knowledge among insiders that playing QB makes one perfectly suited to move to long snapper. I expect the announcement soon, after which Julie will issue an apology and Nuts will be allowed back.

Dare for sure has the arm to be a Long Snapper !!! Lucy is too shaky there anyway. Plus the Center is now protected by D1 rules on a long snap. Win - Win !

Things are looking up, no question about it. The pieces are falling into place. Like, totally.

Originally listed at 185 but now 225? What is the time frame? That's 40lbs. You know how much weight that is to bulk up even for a young kid? Either that's probably not accurate weight or he was 185 over 2 years ago

He has won the state championship in bowling for three straight years. Rumor is he is bulking up for the bowling team and will quit football if he doesnt make the two deep.

Its just a rumor ao take it with a grain of salt.

I don't know why it's so hard to believe. I wasn't a big time football player, didn't lift weights, or work out much yet put on 24 pounds between my 17th and 18th birthday.

Of course it was around then I discovered beer.

I don't know if it is just me being biased as an RU fan or what, but I truly do think that Dare is one of those kids who can WAY outperform his recruiting ranking. I loved the fact that he always wanted to go to Rutgers and that he has had a close relationship with Nova for years. I am sure he was able to draw a lot of insight and advice out of Nova and there is no telling how helpful that can be to a young HS QB making the big jump to BIG10 football! Combine this pedicure and right attitude with a solid 6'5, 225lbs. frame and a supposed strong arm and I could see this kid being a big surprise and doing good things at RU.

Mike now what the heck do well groomed toe-nails have to do with being a good QB? This board is a great place for comic relief! I assume you meant "pedigree". Thanks to you I now have to clean coffee of of my computer screen! Thanks for the laugh though guy.

@MikeRU1766 now you got me thinking toes, maybe Dare is the second toe if you know what I mean.

"You know how the big toe is the captain of the toes, but sometimes the toe next to the big toe gets so big that there's a power struggle and the second toe assumes control of the foot."

Any word on how mobile he is?

I hear he broke his own record getting from the couch to the Frig., while hurdling a coffee table, and side stepping the family dog, and not spilling a single drop of his Malt Liquor, all in under 1.5 seconds. That's what I call mobile!

Christ- now I can only picture him getting a pedi and drinking a malt liqueur. That kind if explains the weight gain.

LOL sorry about that! Happy to provide comic relief. I guess that is what happens when I post at 12:30 PM on a Saturday night.

Kid is just getting here and people on here are debating what positions he can play. He's a very freakin talented QB and I can't wait to see him play there.

Also , with the rate he's gaining weight, will be great to see RU with a mobile QB that outweighs the opponent's NT
