Recruiting

Yeah, that's why it makes sense - they get the best. I think Lilledahl is going to be another of their multi-time champs.
He’s going to be another one of those PSU freshman.. he beat Jax Forrest last season.. Forrest was the FRESHMAN in HS beating up on college kids n winning the opens.. so yeah both r the real deal.. only way standing in Luke way is.. maybe 125 curse or.. a healthy Howard I guess? Or them over recruiting another elite for the weight.

A funny takeaway from the Spencer Lee interview was that the middle brother just announced that he was wrestling there. He wasn't really being recruited (supposedly).

If he did come to RU, how would the weight classes shape up?
Im guessing if he came and went 133 then 1-2 punch w/ Peterson at 125.. Shawver would then be quality.. depth.. the other scenario is Shawver/Peterson 125/133 or vice versa. Cannon 141 and Olivieri can use his RS.

Is Raimo still on the team
He's on the roster but has been plagued with injuries, including the car accident. Anyone know if he's practiced much at all and healthy, or if he's going to medically retire?

Seth Nevills, a former top Penn State recruit, just transferred to Maryland. He was beat out by Kerkvliet. His high school record was 169 and 1. That's a pretty good pick up for Maryland.

Alejandro Herrera-Rondon, a sophomore 157lber at Oklahoma just entered the portal. He is from Pa, was the # 1 ranked high school recruit at 152 pounds, and a three-time state champ. We were in his top 3 before he committed to OU. Wonder if we are interested. Could he be an upgrade at 157?

Once the portal season is over, we are gonna need a scorecard to follow college lineups.

Would be a really nice pickup at 157. Heard Clark is going to redshirt this year. Not sure if anyone here that is close to the program can confirm that.

Dang izzak, last year AA at 165, to Okie state. We were talking bout him earlier when he entered portal.

Carter Neves the Blair heavyweight who beat Jimmy Mullen commits to Stanford, He attended Rutgers matches this year and took visits to UNC and Navy. Word is didn’t consider Rutgers as we lacked a heavyweight coach. He is entering his senior year. The good news is we have Yara for the next two years.

Who's the heavyweight coach on staff at Stanford.

97KG.
Dr. Francois was a member of the U.S. Senior National Greco Team in 2017 and a Senior Nationals placewinner in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. He spent time with Koll while training fulltime with the Cornell wrestling program from 2014-18 within the regional training center, and served as a coach with the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club (FLWC).

A 2016 Olympic Trials U.S. qualifier, he placed fourth at the 2015 USA Wrestling World Team Trials challenge tournament. In 2020, Dr. Francois was the Pan Am Games Ju-Jitsu Blue Belt Masters 1 champion and placed second at the Ju-Jitsu Blue Belt Masters 1 World Championships.

For the record this name doesn’t move the needle for me. And I can’t imagine this is who influenced Neves decision. But Francois does appear to be more credentialed than anything we have on staff above 160lbs

Come on, it’s Stanford. Plus, Norman is going there so clearly Koll has a Blair connection working.

Yeah me too and probably anyone else under 170lbs.

so what value does Buxton bring? He doesn’t help us land any Blair recruits, he isn’t rolling with anyone, his experience at Rhode Island 50 years ago provides a huge competitive edge to the current student Athletes?

That’s very disappointing. I guess take whatever we were going to offer him and give to someone else? Cerchio, maybe? Ferrari would be perfect, but I’m not getting my hopes up there
