Calling it really tight, getting a decent percentage of the calls wrong (IMO), and took what was a great flow to this game in the first half down to a grinding halt.

I'm timing the last 9:54 of the game. There are 7 TO's left. Zaga in Double Bonus and UNC in Bonus already.

fully agree...way too many fouls and now the flagrant on review...good lord...its a painful game to watch, both teams cannot shoot or get any flow...all because the refs...and its not like they are favoring any team...they just became ridiculous calling everything

Gonzaga has not hit a shot in over 7 minutes...they have these droughts in every single game, lets see if they can survive this time

This is absurd. Players all seem hesitant because they know the refs are itching to blow the whistle. Ticky tack shit all over the place. No flow. Of all games, let the players play.

And both are likely to have key players fouled out during crunch time. Gonzaga already has one. Is that what everyone wants?

Gonzaga lacked any toughness...so disappointing...fell apart like a wet chalupa and Big Polish Guy came up extremely small in crunch time

Meeks puts his hands out of bounds on that tie up.

How the hell do they not review that?

well there were so many bad calls on both sides that totally set the tone for an ugly poor shooting game not really fitting of a national championship game. Shooting and foul shooting was pretty abysmal in this game

But...but....but...we were all told officials don't affect the outcome of games

This game was abysmal and these refs should be penalized in some way.

They completely ruined the game

Awful

if you are talking to me, this has nothing to do with RU fans complaing RU gets every bad call, that was one sideded bitching....these refs were calling bad calls both ways...missing fouls and calling fouls that did not happen and then making wrong calls on other stuff and then too many replays. The refs didnt favor any of the two schools and I do not think UNC benefitted in a way that actually won the game. But pace, flow and any kind of spurtability was neutralized

I thought both teams fouled too much----hard game to officiate-----you're going to miss some.

Miss some? They didn't miss any. They may have added a few hundred and gotten many of them wrong, but they definitely didn't miss any.

Has there been an analysis about shooting percentages (including free throws) in the final four since the move to football stadium domes? I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the free throw shooting is always more suspect than usual in this NFL dome settings.

Refs were awful both ways. First half had a decent flow even though they were sort of whistle happy then, but they couldn't put their whistles down in the second half. Completely ruined any flow, any consistency, muted the crowd too. Awful awful job by the stripes.

The "Big Polish Guy" came up small throughout the entire game. He missed about 9 or 10 little chippies around the basket and made about one of them.

I have to admit I was rooting hard for the Zags and what do you know, the CHEATERS still won. I guess that means the NCAA won't issue any reports for at least another nine months. What a joke they are.

Sad day for college basketball and a big, though richly deserved black eye for the NCAA. They have allowed college sports to become a joke. Why would anyone take the rules seriously if they see that offenders are not punished?

Could not agree more. The refs destroyed this game from the very beginning. I actually shut it off in the second half.

UNC shot 4 for 27 from 3------amazing they could win with that kind of shooting.

This is insane.

Officials should be ashamed of themselves, as well as the announcers.

Refs review plays all tournament, constantly stopping the flow of the games, but in that critical moment, no one thinks to review the play?

What a joke.

And if that call is made correctly, the bad inbounds by Gonzaga doesn't happen.

not just you bac

here's the thing...folks are quick to agree that officials aren't perfect and botch calls...but then folllow it up (not always, but almost always) that things balance out.

why? why do things balance out? there is no data that suggests officials screw things up equally. people just say that to make themselves feel better.

i think the refs were horrible to both teams. but the bad calls against the Zags seemed to be more impactful. Collins missing 50% of the game due to BS fouls was awful (even the commentators admitted as much). the call with the picture I showed above was YUGE.

again, my point all along is that I believe that the favorite tends to get the benefit of the doubt. this played out all tournament. RU being the underdog will continue to get shafted on more calls than not...until we get better.

The game was hard to watch because of the poor shooting by both teams which could be attributed to the tight baskets.Plenty of in and out shots especially close to the basket by the Gonzaga centers.Lots of long caroms after missed 3 pointers.Excessive fouling could be attributed to more drives to the basket because of poor outside shooting.
