A native of Amsterdam, New York, Stanavich becomes the sixth student-athlete to join the Scarlet Knights’ latest recruiting class. He is the Junior College Division 3 Preseason Pitcher of the Year by The JBB heading into this spring and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining once joining the program next fall.

“Dale is a very talented athlete who has made the transition from being a reliever and position player to a starting pitcher,” Owens said. “He has an excellent arm and should be an immediate impact player for us in the Big Ten next season as a left-handed starter. I really like his personality and his competitive nature, he is a perfect fit for our program. We are excited about his addition and look forward to helping him achieve his goals.”

In my day, [50's & 60's], Amsterdam had real good & tough ball clubs, both HS & semi-pro. Their football was very tough as well. Lots of rug making & textile mills. Tough guys. Tough place to go & play. Hard nosed Italian & Polish guys.
