Rettig transferring

Good luck. He always seemed loyal to his teammates. Pretty sure that is one thing we can all agree on.

The savior that never touched the grass, great representative of the university though

Still think he should have been given a shot last year. Who knows what he would have shown?

Good luck to him. He always seemed to be a good teammate and whenever you saw the team doing something in the community, he was in the middle of it. Hope he finds a good landing spot for next year.

good teammate..sorry to see him go..Laviano probably will be next.Laviano sat on bench entire Maryland game like a five year old pouting.good luck Hayden!!!!

Wish the kid the best and hopes he finds a school where he has an opportunity to play football

Good luck to him. Good kid, great teammate. Way to keep at it.

Worked out for Savage to transfer twice to find the right fit. Hoping the same for Rettig.

Will be interesting to see where he goes.
He has been an Academic All-B1G so it would seem that from the academic side his options should be pretty wide open - and just needs to find a program that has a need & will give him a priority shot at taking the QB spot.
Hard to envision him turning into a real viable pro prospect - but if he went to a good school with a somewhat less intense level of competition - a place where his natural skills give him a real advantage - he could have fun , win some games, get a leg up on grad school work - and get networked into being set for a great career

Good luck to him,

But talk about the will to play. I hope he goes to a good school and graduates with a good degree.

Rutgers would have looked good on his resume.

He is getting a Rutgers degree I believe . No?

From what little we saw of him, the dude had a good arm. Always a good teammate too. Best of luck to him.

So here's a question I have - why do kids who are likely not going to the NFL transfer in their final year of college for football purposes instead of just sticking it out and getting their degree? Are they doing it for the possibility of having an amazing final year and getting NFL consideration? Serious question.

Gotta read the article: "He will be an immediately eligible postgraduate with one year remaining once the fall term is completed."

Also, liked the opening line: "Hayden Rettig's career as a Rutgers quarterback now officially can be filed under the category of "We'll never know."

I'm still pissed at Flood for not giving him a shot last year. Thought they were about equal in the opening game and when CL went south a few games in, could never, for the life of me, figure out why he didn't get more than mop up duty. Hard to say they look even, preseason, and then not go to him when the guy you have starting craps the bed. Good luck to HR...

he is a graduate transfer that's why he is eligible. He will be getting his masters from the next stop

Best of luck for him.
Appears to be a class guy and great teammate.

I thank Hayden for the class he shown as a Rutgers player and wish him success as a QB at his next school and in life after his college career is over.

Good to see he got his degree.

He had every opportunity to win the job. He just didn't get it done at LSU and here.

The same can be said for us who wanted Nova benched after his multiple pick games. The coaches saw enough of Laviano in practice to know. We the fans, found out the hard way. Laviano was a MASSIVE drop off from Nova.

I am so curious about his skills. It will be fun to watch him play, be it at another school.

- and it will -
"He will be an immediately eligible postgraduate with one year remaining once the fall term is completed."
... which would seem to mean that he gets his BA from Rutgers University in about a month from now.
- and then seeks out a place to earn a graduate degree.

good luck to him. He probably would not have been better than a 3rd option next year. He may be good with a Pac12 or Mtn West team where he can compete to be a starter.

Given the move to a new offense you have to figure a stream of players who know there is no place for them now will leave.

#RettigFreed Good luck Hayden, will always be my favorite QB at RU. Can't wait for him to go light it up elsewhere, will be following the career of this Loyal Son now that he is an alumnus.
