RIP B1G

Found this on Facebook. Don't know the person, who was born, raised and lives in NJ. Did not go to college or UofM and the person is a huge UofM fan. I know several people like this:

"I am a Michigan fan and always will be but congratulations to TCU they were the team that deserved to win today! Michigans entire organization needs to take a hard look in the mirror starting with the coaching staff! Those boys were not prepared to play and the play calling was horrible. The players need to take responsibility as well no one came to play they were soft no one wanted to hit no one stepped up and wanted to win very sad! Congratulations to TCU there coaching staff and players did there job!"

Sigh. Probably, like ND "fans" doesn't know what state UM is located in.

I don’t get the argument that last night’s games were some kind of embarrassment for the B1G. It must be people outside the B1G resentful of their revenue/coverage or fans from other teams inside the conference that hate OSU and Michigan.

Michigan lost a game they were favored in where they didn’t play well but still had the ball at the end with a chance to win despite handing TCU 14 points on pick sixes.

OSU played very well against a team that was expected to beat them soundly, and missed a tough but makeable FG to win at the end of the game.

Neither of those games were the usual playoff semifinal blowouts like when ND is there, and anyone watching them without bias would recognize we weren’t that far from one or both B1G teams making the final.
OP was being sarcastic. Obviously two teams from the same conference making the playoff shows it’s a good conference, at least at the top

it is what college football is now and, barring a rule change, this is how it is going to be.

I’m sure Schiano hates watching these kinds of games too, because he refuses to evolve even when a successful coach he is supposedly friendly with like Saban is smart enough to adapt even in the middle of being successful.
I like O. But I also like to see the D force a punt once in a while. Balance is good. I’ll take a 28-24 game over a 52-49 “shoot out” any day

Personally, I like defense more than these shootouts as well, but that is not what the rules or the game wants right now and I don’t see RU being successful with it at the level we recruit. I think we had a solid defense this year, but they weren’t able to control a game for all 60 minutes.

God I can't wait till the playoff expand and these southern teams need to come north and play an OSU or Mich in some real weather. Also why did they give Georgia a home game? couldn't they have flipped the fields for last nights games?

I can’t stand when teams playing with desperation manage to get downfield to theoretical “field goal range” (but which is actually a pretty long field goal), then, due to fear of a mistake, change strategy from what got them there and miss an opportunity to get into easy field goal range.

It still bothers me that Rutgers did it at the end of regulation in the 2006 WVU game, and OSU did the same thing tonight.
All the time. There's a reason why field goal make percentages get lower the further the kick.

I’m pretty sure that’s predetermined rotationally.

You ask a lot of questions for somebody from New Jersey.

Also, what on earth was OSU calling in the final two plays? You get into FG range, then go for two passing plays while you still had a time out? The first was almost picked, and the second had a coverage breakdown that could have led to a sack outside of FG range. Yes, the run on 1st down loss a yard - but I don't see how you don't try to keep it on the ground for at least one more play before kicking.
his coach did the Kicker no favors there for sure. He had just barley made the 48 (?) yarder and he puts the kid in position to make a game winning kick at 52 in this situation? WTF was he thinking. All Stroud had to do was rollout for two plays and get them like 5 more yards.
I honestly think the kid knew he had just barely made the last one and tried to hard and that's why he pulled it. Kid must feel like crap. Thanks Day.

When the O goes 3 and out for most of the game, the D can only do so much.
Even the best D in the country will run out of gas if they spend the whole game on the field.
Even if the O doesn't score they have to get a couple 1st downs and give the D a break.
That's one of the many places where RU is falling down right now.

That thought process has been going on for decades. The South responds by saying come South for an earlySeptember game when the heat index is 130 on the field.

Why do you think most bowl games are played in warmer climates?
Because no one in their right mind wants to play in an ice bowl.
We live in the South because of the warmer climate and great BBQ.

I agree, but the problem is many new offenses implemented are going to struggle initially so you might have to live with too many three and outs early to order to get the payoff later. Schiano hasn’t shown much patience for that historically.

What was tough about this year was we were getting the three be outs without any sign of a payoff later, short of Wimsatt taking such a jump he can overcome a weak OL and non-threatening WRs.

Illinois loses to Miss. State, without their beloved Head Coach on the sidelines.
Purdue getting housed by LSU.
The American may not be a safe space. Tulane down 28-24 to mighty USC. Can we add Tulane to the B1G instead of USC with all that NIL money?

I lived in Atlanta for a year. The summers are no worse than here, they just start a month sooner and end a month later. Winter on the other hand, I was wearing a light jacket in January when all the locals were bundled up in overcoats, hats and scarves.

100%
See HC Ash hiring OC Kill.
Yes 2016 sucked. Didn't really care if OC Mehringer was retained or not. But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater and go super conservative.

The myth of "slow offense to protect the defense" is the height of ignorance.

Fast offense doesn't tire out the defense.
Slow offense doesn't tire out the defense.

BAD offense tires out the defense.
A "fast" 3 and out is just as bad as a "slow" 3 and out.

No defense has ever complained "why did the offense score so fast? Now we're back out there."

Thanks for nothing Ohio State and Michigan.

What an embarrassment of a conference. Can we go to the American?
tOSU played like a champion & lost to a champion. UMich didn't.
