Was hoping w the addition of Buxton it would have attracted more Blair kids… it seems Buxton did have a big influence on Shawver jumping lvls last year tho.

How did Buxton have a big influence on Shawver jumping levels.
Oh heard it on the breakdown from the barn interview… Shawver credited Buxton for lighting a fire under him… basically telling him what he needed to do to succeed..

I heard a podcast with Mike Mal and Cruse. Mike Mal stated that there is some scuttlebutt that Nebraska and Ohio State may drop their RTC. They would then use all that money that historically went to RTC and give top tier incoming recruits top dollar NIL packages.
That sounds like it could be a disaster, which if it doesn't work, can set them up for failure in the future and might be difficult to recover from. Take away world caliber, NCAA champs, and AAs to train with? The teams will then have only their teammates to train with. Their collegiate development will take a drop and the teams risk wrestlers fleeing for money AND better training partners. If this happens...NIL strikes again.

Sounds like a great way to either:

A. Land top talent but not develop it
B. Focus heavily on transfers that have already developed, like Michigan

Guess they are weighing the cost benefits of having enough money to land the top talents in the first place vs getting who they can afford and developing them… most of the elite hs guys these days, Basset, Blaze, Forrest or think any blue chipper PSU recruit… come in already college ready n ready to contend …

If you're talking coaching McCoy
McCoy did not have a good run at Maryland. However he also has this on his coaching resume

McCoy then became an assistant coach with the Lehigh wrestling program in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; in his five seasons there, he coached 14 NCAA All-Americans, including two NCAA Champions, and the program won the EIWA Conference championship four times. McCoy also helped guide Jon Trenge, who weighed 197 pounds (89 kg) to a Lehigh-record 133 victories in his career[3] and three top-three finishes at the NCAA Championships.

I asked which one doesn’t belong. You are assuming Buxton.
Is that your answer? Don't be coy, if you got something to say go for it.

But if it is Buxton, I'd say, McCoy cross and Humphrey haven't coached a world medalist (I'm like 98% sure on this maybe I missed someone though).

Slay has Burroughs but Burroughs was already doing that before he got to Penn etc.

Buxton has coached one, Rivera. So that sets him apart from the rest.

McCoy is not an assistant coach on the Lehigh team. In 2021, he become the executive director and head coach at the Lehigh Valley Wrestling Club Regional Training Center.

It is easy to pick all these coaches apart. McCoy ran Maryland into the ground after Santoro built it up. Who has Slay produced at the Penn RTC? They have a ton of money, that is why a lot of wrestlers join the Penn RTC. How has UPENN done since he has been there? Penn has gotten a lot of highly ranked recruits that have not lived up to their recruiting rankings.

Jordan Wood won't be coming here, as he took a role with Lehigh's South Mountain Way NIL group.

You should remove Mark Hall as well , he’s the director of sports operations at Oklahoma now

This Olympics showed that you don't have to go to NLWC to be successful and that those coaches and that room aren't the only paths to Olympic success...

Rivera @ SKWC 🥉(3-1)
Lee @ HWC 🥈(3-1)

Dake @ NLWC 🥉 (3-1)
Brooks @ NLWC 🥉 (3-1)
Snyder @ NLWC 5th (2-2)
Retherford @ NLWC DNP (0-1 MFF)

Parris @ CKWC DNP (0-1)

Dake and Snyder didn't improve at the Olympics by training at NLWC. After leaving Cornell, Dake won another 🥉, same as @ Cornell. After winning gold in 2016 Olympics while training at tOSU and the Ohio RTC, Snyder didn't medal in 2024 and got a 🥈 in 2020/21.

I agree with your overall point but Dake, Snyder, and Retherford probably have age to blame more than training partners
