What's not to like. Get to the stadium early to tailgate and you're already half-way to the shore. By the time the game is over, all the traffic is long gone.
Honest question. I am not trying to troll but do you think playing a game on National TV where you will be the only game and have the potential to get beat very badly is a great thing? Wouldn't you rather another game than this team? It's an honest question. They may be a 30 point favorite next year.
Great thing. we are showcasing what could be. a packed house at night is much better than 70% full at noon on saturday.
This guy...smh
Isn't that Friday the last chance to down to the shore?Based off of previous Labor Day weekend opener attendance numbers that is a ridiculous attendance prediction. An 8pm start on Friday, instead of a Saturday in the middle of the weekend plus at worst a top 10 opponent, would only improve on previous numbers not make them worse.
This will be a 50k to a sell out.
Have a the rehearsal dinner at the party deck. Win-win.This game has been moved off of my wedding day, but will now be played on the night of my rehearsal dinner. Now to test the limits of my fiance's patience...
he is not that wrong...do you think a 2-10 Rutgers team is going to come into the season with buzz against a school that blew their doors off...with students not there yet

If you are doing a Friday night to increase attendance
the following week might be better.

Probably not. My post was not a complain, it was just an observation and a guess at attendance. Labor Day weekend is a popular weekend for end of summer vacations or spending time at the shore.Would it be different at noon the next day?
Would it be different at noon the next day?
Agree. Night game without a buzz does not fill the stands. People missed out on the Friday night special on Dec. 7, 2013 when we played USF--think that was KF bobblehead night (anyone want to buy one?). Stadium was quite empty that night. Now there may be a buzz if UW is the defending national champion and folks want to come check them out and how we fare against them.not that much but my post is to the argument that a Friday night brings some sort of buzz and atmosphere, it doesntt to a 2-10 team, People like night games because they remember good times of wins not because its at night
...and I was the first to agree with you! [laughing]I'll take credit for being the 1st one here to make the call (listen, I've got NOTHING else going for me right now lol....)! LOVE IT! Picked (most of) the teams as well (RU, Maryland, Purdue, NW, MSU, Illinois, Wisconsin). Didn't see Nebraska coming but thought for sure Minny would be there. Good stuff IMHO!
People must have missed it because that game was on a Saturday night.Agree. Night game without a buzz does not fill the stands. Is that why so few people were in the stands? [roll]Anyway, the point was about night games having some kind of buzz.People must have missed it because that game was on a Saturday night.

Yeah you two are right. Saturday at 12 noon where the students still aren't there and in the middle of LDW SCREAMS a much better atmosphere.
And when was the last time we had 34k attendance?
Was going to mock you for UMD scheduling FIU and UCF, but see you guys have Texas next year. What's the logic there? What was the reason for scheduling Washington and Washington State?
This can't be a recruiting priority. This can't be coaching favor. I can't for the life of me figure out why?
Me too. If the weather is good, we should start our tailgate at noon. Make everybody take a half day.Love it!!
not really, if the season concludes 2-10 which all indication is that it wlll, I dont think you going to see a gung ho fanbase besides the 30K diehards, we probably are looking at the same 40-45K..remember students arent there yet
The term night game is likely a misnomer for this one. More like a 6:00 twilight game, followed by Utah State @ Wisconsin at 9:30 (8:30 Central).

Sometimes teams are looking for P5 opponents and it just works out?
So, while not worded real well, can't we ask the same questions you asked about playing UW with your playing Texas?Well
- We like to win our out of conference games.
- We played 1 away game, and got 2 home games.
- D.J. Durkin coached at Florida as DC, and as interim head coach
- D.J. Durkin and staff spent 2 weeks recruiting in Florida while there. Florida is a hotbead of talent, the state Washington not so much for RU.
- We have many kids from Florida on the roster
- We heavily recruit Florida
- Our fans like traveling south to Florida.
So again lots of reasons for us to continue to recruit and play games in Florida.
P.S. We have big games on our schedule for the future, WVU, Texas, and Virginia Tech.
Me too. If the weather is good, we should start our tailgate at noon. Make everybody take a half day.
Works for me. I can always bring a laptop and work a bit at the field inbetween mai-tais.I always take off the Friday before Labor Day - let's start at midnight, Friday morning...
Rehearsal tailgate could start a trend and get you off the hook especially if her parents are big FB fans. This game has been moved off of my wedding day, but will now be played on the night of my rehearsal dinner. Now to test the limits of my fiance's patience...
