RU Wrestling vs Cal St Bakersfield

Glad we won but there was too much ugly and that ref should not be a college ref.

Early impressions- RU will get destroyed in the Big10 at 197 and 285, will need big leads going into these 2 weight classes.

Giraldo disappoinint, Theo should wrestle 149 unless something is seriously up with Lewis.

McCabe not looking too good at 125, not sure if redshirting Paetzell is the best move yet.

Dip clearly better at 133 than Del Vecchio

Ashnault, Theo, and Gravina are HAMMERS.

Ash getting taken down twice is alarming but that kid was slick. We will take our lumps at 165-197-hwt. McCabe is who he is. We know what he is about. He will win matches he should and seldom wins matches against quality kids. Lewis looks fine he made the trip. We will have our hands filled with Princeton. Everyone better bring there A game because they will be getting ALOT of bonuss points up top.

McCabe: Has made no improvement, and will be get demolished in the Big 10.That wildcard he got last year was a gift.

Dip:Thought the kid was going too flounder at 133 because of the weight drop, but he is wrestling tougher than ever.Man on a mission.

Ash;As expected.Didn't wrestle his best, but we've seen that before with these tomato's he wrestles as warm ups.He beat Meredith..that's what counted.

Giraldo:So,the excuse last year is that he was "cutting too much weight".Now whats the excuse Anthony? I think he is burnt out and done with wrestling.

Theo: Looked tough, but I wouldn't actually call him a "hammer" in this match. He needs too understand that there are guys in this conference that will pound him,if he is not on his game always.

VanBrill: I like this kid.Very tough on top and will be a force for this program

Gravina: Kid never stops wrestling, but better watch out for other wrestlers who are going to catch onto that slide by.Other than that, the toughest kid on that team

Correnti: He looks done already.Maybe the weight cut,or the freshman jitters, either which way,the coaches better figure it out soon.I'm getting flash backs of Campo all over again.

Gross: Looked like a dancing panda out there.Zero offense, and I don't want too hear "oh,he's rusty".He knows the drill, and should lay off the grease trucks

Bak: Looked tough, but as we all know, when he faces a top 10 guy,he freezes and takes no shots.Kind of like Billy Smith..just can't get that signature win.

I'm wondering if we should just go with Paetzall at 125 and Mulligan at 197 already. No disrespect to Mccabe but as a senior he should be much better than he is.

way to early for the McCabe takes I'm seeing. not wrestling at the ESSO and 1 bad match after a cross country trip makes me think he may be ill, injured or having a tough weight cut. he's a 5th year senior, he may have plateaued but he didn't forget how to wrestle.

Seriously Creedo, it does get old. Correnti's done after his second weekend of college competition? Giraldo looks done with wrestling? Because every kid doesn't bonus point his opponents doesn't mean they should be ripe for the picking for being attacked.

I don't see the over the top love fest and optimism on this site. I see some excitement with the direction of the program. People know our strengths and weaknesses and are pretty honest in their constructive criticism. The way you phrase your comments adds nothing to the discussion here.

Need to consider that these were consecutive matches cross country in the early season. Just bc a kid looks tired, can't assume he is burnt out or done with wrestling. We have legit depth, even if it's not top quality depth at all weight classes. These kids are starting for a reason.

You need to at least wait until the conference schedule starts before coming to conclusions like that.

So do you guys think you are going to end up going with Paetzell or no?

I was right about Gross coming too the program,I was right about Campo coming and heard he was leaving RU before anyone else did.Not starting trouble, but truth be told,Giraldo and Correnti look totally disinterested out there. In Correnti's defense,he is cutting way too much weight, and for the life of me,don't know why Goodale let this kid suck down too that weight.I'm sure it is because they will let Mulligan redshirt,Gross will man the heavy class this year.Correnti will redshirt next year and Mulligan will handle 197 for Gross's last year, and then those two will finish out the 3 years together.Great plan, but I beg too differ on Correnti's part.Giraldo was lethargic like that all last year, now he's at 149lbs..so what excuses are there now? Very poor showing against a very fired up CSB.Kudos too them for pushing the pace and wrestling tough.Gravina and Ash where the only ones who looked fired up,with VanBrill and Bak a close second.Any comments I add too this discussion are certainly valid, considering I was a standout for this program at one point.Nobody know RU Wrestlings strengths and weaknesses more than I do.

Yo where's the shitliner from PSU at?

Cal Bakersfield was Pac 12 champs last year so they have some kids that can wrestle. Was Dippery looking disinterested? Kid has the balls of a gorilla as he drops two weight classes just so he can wrestle. if it were me I would redshirt the whole freshman class except Correnti and have kick ass 5th year senior when they are done.

Let's not go crazy about Dip's testes. His natural weight is 141 and he was forced up to 149 since coming to RU because of AA. So in reality he dropped one natural weight this year. That being said, I absolutely love what I see from him at 133!! All of his shortcomings at 149, where he could be sometimes overpowered on his feet and manhandled while on bottom go away. I look for a huge year from him, and yes, if I were coaching RU I absolutely would start him over DelVec.
