Basketball Rutgers Basketball suffers road loss to Ohio State on Wednesday night

A good effort, but this was about the best we could hope for. I think it means we may compete a little better than expected but I still see us in the bottom four in the conference. Not much changed as far as that is concerned. Great game for Simpson though, want to see more of his development rest of the season as development is the key for this year.

Weird game. So many times we looked lost and so many times we looked ready to steal a victory

Still surprised at how lame the crowd was. Don’t see them stand at all and pretty quiet most of the game
It not weird it’s been our MO for years. You know the common denominator? Pike and his coaching. He’s able to light fires when needed.

50 seconds left in the game. OSU up 2 with the ball. Austin with great defense and forced his guy to dribble into trouble and the ref alters the game completely with a fantom foul call and basically ends our chance . Also how the F was that a shooting foul putting them at the free throw line !?!? A bad call even more rediculous ! (Was only the 6th foul of the half on RU)

We are so whiny about the refs every game. Please stop it. We sound like a weak pussy fan base.
Mike, I mostly agree, but you have to admit, a guy who has possession in the front court, then slides on his back into the backcourt, is an obvious and easy call to make. Also, reviewing an elbow to the windpipe should have been an easy flagrant call.

Williams on Thorton and Mag on Battle almost saved the game for us

Pike needs to go to Williams more if a big strong guard is bullying us. Noah Simpson and Davis just don't have the strength to stop a player like that
Agreed, had Williams been rotated in much earlier and been a part of 1st half rotation when the defense was terrible, they might have won.

This team is a massive work in progress and I don't see a tourney team here, but I do hope they have a winning season in the B1G. The conference sucks this year, we can get to 10 wins.

Other OSU guy sliding on floor. No call.
All those possessions in a close game make a big deal.
OSU player sees Cliff coming down lane and throws out elbow. He may have not been trying to hurt Cliff but that’s a flagrant and literally could have killed them.

We were hosed. Why people are afraid to comment on officiating are actually doing more harm than good.

Doing more harm than good?!???! So our comments on a message board will do some sort of good? The refs are going to give us calls based upon message board comments?? Oh boy…..refs suck every game, in wins and losses, they sucked again.

Noah got away with like three offensive fouls that ended in buckets for us.

Problem was that the 1st half defense was the worst of the season and that’s where this game was lost.
Imo, 93 a lot of that or a decent portion anyway was bad offense that allowed Ohio to get down the court before the defense could get set. Give osu credit for transition o.

We are not that different than the past few years. We will shoot like crap some games and loose some head scratchers and win some unexpectedly. We will get in big holes and dig out of some remarkably. Gotta play with passion and effort like a junkyard dog.

If they dont commit to defense they have not shot to succeed. Today was a step in the right direction

We lost by 4 on the road while Ohio State shot 46% from three and we shot 25%, and got raped by the refs.

If anyone posts anything saying this proves how bad we are they should be banned from the board.
We had a lot to do with Ohio State shooting that well from three by the way we defended the perimeter in the first half. It wasn’t an accident.

The Key no call was BS. It wasn't accidental with him facing the rim and his elbow getting high looking to rebound. He turned to face Cliff. Saw him crashing the board and threw his elbow into him. Cliff is taller than Key so he needs to put his elbow up high to get him in the neck

It's a clear flagrant

Austin Williams played an important role keeping us in this game. That was a bit surprising.
Maybe he should get more playing time…….been saying this all year as he is one of the few guys who plays with grit and toughness every time he plays. Is he talented??? No, but this team lacks talent anyway. He provides effort and toughness.

Watch again he traveled before the call was even made

Yep but no calls don’t count. He should have been tossed and RU ball.

Officiating matters.

Simpson not J Mike is our future.

Osu is getting any shot they want. RUTGERS is doing zero on defense to effect the game

Cant chalk this up to them shooting well. They outscored RU 24-12 in last 11 minutes..
Ohio State: is 9-11 from three
Bac2therac: can’t chalk up the score different to them shooting well
FinalFourOrBust: vague grunting noises

I don’t think it was an accident either. He maybe didn’t intend to hurt him but it’s a dirty play regardless

You can do exactly what he did just try to stop Cliff by throwing it to his chest. No reason his elbow needs to be that high. It's not like it was Simpson crashing and he's just taller

Replay clearly showed Williams did not foul

Ru played no defense in 1st half

Ru played its best defense of the season in 2nd half with specific switches and double teams
They wouldn’t shoot 9/11 against a high school team most of the time. Just for once try to look past the result of a shot.
