Stats look pretty even though they have played one more game than us. A few glaring spots though:
-They penalize- a lot. Our extra man unity hopefully can increase their %. It is the one data point that doesn't look great right now. I heard an announcer say it during one of our games and I believe it rings true. We have some great shooters across the board and you see it during the games. Our free flowing all systems go style is completely different than running set plays in a settled situation, even up a man. It is a challenge to shift gears like that. The reverse of that is also true, and is a reason I think teams like Hopkins are so good at extra man. They are used to running scripted set plays. I'll gladly take a little lower percentage on man ups though to not play that way. Huge reward on the other side.
That said, we should be better, and I believe will be. Our shooters are just too good. They will figure it out. Hopefully tomorrow.
-Groundballs. Our insanely high cause turnover percentage leads to a high number of groundballs, as does our athleticism and effort. When that ball is on the turf, the team with the better athletes who are more motivated usually comes up with it. We are doing very, very well in that department up to this point of the season which plays very well into our transition/unsettled/early offense game.
If we continue to do well in gb's, faceoff's, and get similar goalie play, it is going to take an incredible effort on Delaware's part to have us leave there with anything other than a W.
