Their goalie played great, Max didn't have his best day in goal for us, and our shooting was average. That was the game.

Save disparity was the difference if it was even only 2/1 instead of 4/1 we win. Their goalie was a kid I saw 2 years ago and told BB about him, BB tied to get him but he wouldn't even visit kid is going to be very good. We simply hit a hot goalie. Time to play the Big Ten.
Yea 19 saves is a ton for those who don't know. We won every other stat. Just didn't shoot well. Missed some easy ones, took some questionably placed shots, then the kid was saving everything and I think got in our head a little bit too.
IMO there was more to our loss than that. Many of our shots were from distance & many didn't have much steam on them. We couldn't do anything with Delaware's zone. We weren't moving & we weren't moving the ball quickly. We were losing far too many ground balls. Conversely many of Delaware's goals came off of very good looks.This was far, far from the team I saw play Army. Against Del. we were not playing lose or with confidence. I believe being No 1 affected them & tightened them up. That being said, they certainly didn't have a good outing in their previous game against a then 0-7 NJIT team. Whatever the cause or causes, this team is off. Hopefully we are not in a funk & we can rebound strongly against Hopkins.
In spite of the above, we might have pulled it out when we had our best & only run & scored 5 or 6 in a row to draw to 9-8 if after our last goal the ref hadn't aborted the FO & awarded Delaware posession. Guys in the stands said it may have been for delay of game. I don't have a clue, but know that it completely halted our momentum & altered the game. Admittedly without knowing all the rules, it looked like a BS call at that juncture of the game.

They played tight for sure. But it was shooting. We shot very poorly. We also had more ground balls than them and turned them over way more. We won every stat except the one that mattered and saves.
19 saves in a college game is very, very good. Definitely a few bullshit calls. Very unimpressed with the refs this year. Watch what happens at Hopkins. Place is total homecooking.

We aren't scared of Homewood...we proved that last year. But we need to pressure the goalie as he is not going to make 19 saves like UDel's goalie will. I'm hoping UDel wins the CAA...would love to flatten them in a rematch at RU Stadium in the First Round of the Tourney.

Agree, our shooting was below par. We missed the net a few times on decent looks. Their goalie was very good & I believe he did get into our heads a bit, however, as I posted earlier, many of our shots were from distance & were nowhere near lasers. IMO this was due to their zone D & our slow ball & player movement. We weren't going to beat that kid from there with those shots. Our poor shooting was a result of that combination of factors IMO. Tightness obviously played into it as well. We all know that we are a much better team than that. The lose, confidant RU squad we know & more is going to have to show up at Hopkins in order to beat them and the homer job that is sure to come.

Read in another post. I hope they win the CAA and we play them in the first round of the tournament. We won't lose to that team twice.
