The Rutgers IMG Sports Network announced today a broadcast partnership with WENJ (97.3 FM) in Atlantic City and WTMR (800 AM) in Camden for the 2015 football season. Additionally, ESPN Radio NY (98.7 FM) will air the Scarlet Knights’ contests against Washington State on Sept. 12 and versus Kansas on Sept. 26.

The agreements with WENJ-FM and WTMR-AM expand the current radio coverage map of the Rutgers IMG Sports Network into the South Jersey and Philadelphia areas. In addition to broadcasting each Rutgers football game, the stations will also carry the pregame and postgame shows.

Rutgers football games will continue to be broadcast over the Rutgers IMG Sports Network to flagship WCTC 1450-AM in Central Jersey and 50,000-watt, WOR 710-AM in New York City. Fans can also listen to The Rutgers IMG Sports Network on their mobile devices via the popular TuneIn Radio app.

That's all well and good, except that none of those stations help cover Monmouth County. Once I hit the EB/OB border on Rt. 18, WOR and WCTC are basically intermittent static. Here at the compound, there's nothin'.

Really? 808 likes? That's very fishy.

I can barely get WCTC here in Milltown. Only 7 miles from their Tower.

Got a question about the following sentence from the release:

"Rutgers football games will continue to be broadcast over the Rutgers IMG Sports Network to flagship WCTC 1450-AM in Central Jersey and 50,000-watt, WOR 710-AM in New York City..."

I thought WOR-AM took over flagship status from WCTC back in 1992. Can anyone confirm that or explain who has been the flagship and for how long? Thanks in advance if you know.

I thought somewhere back in the 1990s it was announced that WOR was becoming the flagship station. Pretty sure I read something about that back then. No reason I'd make that up. Perhaps it's the model airplane glue I've been sniffing..... again.

FINALLY!!! I had written emails to Pernetti and Julie the last few years that down here in Cape May county there is no RU radio coverage. 97.3 is the ESPN station down here and last year was promoting PSU since they were broadcasting their games. Its nice to be able to listen to the RU radio team sometimes while watching the games.

Can't get WOR here in Manchester at night and of course you can't get WCTC High School's radio station past the parking lot of their station. Rutgers now needs to expand the network for basketball as well. If WCTC won't move Rutgers sports to their FM station (which is still not much of a signal) then their rights should be terminated. They have had DECADES to get their act together.

You have to love NJ topology. A network of 4 stations can cover the entire state for the most part. Penn State's radio network has 60 PA stations and covers a small percentage of PA then Rutgers network.

Great news and love it that all of South Jersey and even parts of Eastern PA now can listen to games.

But not all of Sussex County is covered?
Unless WOR actually reaches those parts.

Would be nice to get radio coverage in North East PA too up through Scranton/Wilkes Barre.

Proud,
I doubt you can get WOR in Wantage,Montague, maybe even Blairstown in Warren County.

Here are better maps of the coverage areas.

Nice. This was one of the recommendations of the Fan Advisory Board. Well done Rutgers.

Depending on the weather and always better at night, WOR can reach me in the nations capital..

Really? I get ESPN Radio up to Canada.

NVM, I see that's only for the Wazzu game

Here we go... from a November 3, 2009 article from Tom Luicci:

"...Rutgers announced yesterday that it has extended its contract with WOR (710 AM) to serve as the school’s flagship station for football and basketball through the 2013-14 season. WOR has held that role since 1992..."

I think WOR isn't the flagship anymore since they didn't air all the games last season or this season either.
