RU won't be swept, I actually think they win the next 2. Trainor , who pitched for Indiana today, is one of the best pitchers in the Big10. I don't think they will pitch her every game.
PS-our best starter, freshman Corah Price, goes tomorrow. Our coach intentionally held her out against the tremendous Trainor. Smart strategy, IMO

edit- Trainer only went 4 innings today, so I'm guessing they pitch her again tomorrow ,if not Sunday

We need to get at least one W over Indiana. We cannot get swept by them. We had a 2 game lead over them coming into this series. Getting swept is unacceptable.

Okay let’s not go crazy a “2-game” lead isn’t exactly huge. They’re also 32-18 overall, to our 24-21, So maybe they’ve just played an easier in conference schedule thus far.

Geez, Indiana's Ace pitcher, Trainer, gets the start again today!

Tough loss. Indiana gets the winning hit w 2 out in the bottom of the 7th. Need to win tomorrow.

coach butler has said the game is won ,or lost in the circle....if you have a fire baller throwing heat and i mean 65 plus mph...that's tough to beat, also, with the windmill throwing motion ,you can pitch many inning's.......we do have a recruit coming in next year who is about to break the k record in the state of ohio.her name is ashley hitchcock she has 968 K's not counting this season
she was three time pitcher of the year, and 3 time second team all-state.
she's from a small school probably, why she wasn't 1st team as...hopefully more help is on the way. we have another pitcher coming here also jaden vickers from florida. she has 538 K's in her career not counting this year.
so, coach butler knows what it takes for success heat, and lots of it......it also really helps that we have a very good pitching coach who came with coach b from toledo ..brandon duncan he pitched for the king and his court 4 man fast pitch team, that toured asia, and was the featured pitcher...so, things are looking up...i didn't want be so negative in my other post, but i figured there ace would pitch 2 games. plus being fired up on senior day weekend....that's why a sweep next weekend would be huge for the ladies....by the way did you get a good look at indianas ball park, wow, they are hosting the big ten tourney ,,,,wonder why not at ru,,,,oh, that's right we have a field.and that's about it....really disgraceful for the men, and women's teams...if, i hit the lotto ill donate a million for at least lights.
pat hobbs better be working on this because enough is enough with the penny pinching........it's the big ten, it's 2019 let's get it done!

Terrific post. And yea, nice Stadium , and their fans really get behing that team. PS- I live in little, tiny Cedar Grove. It pained me to see our HS softball pitcher, Mia Faieta, sign with St Johns. She's terrific, maybe the best pitcher in NJ the past 3 seasons. Not sure if Coach Butler went after her. Sounds like the Ohio pitcher is better though.

i do think with this new hire by our ad things will improve..but, dam you at least need lights for a frigging night game...it's sad, and depressing.
coach butler has stated that pat hobbs is on board with full support.
maybe, just maybe it means new facilities....if you want to turn a program around ,you have to at least keep up with rest of the conference...the difference is when a recruit see's indianas mini minor league stadium
or rutger's lightless field...well, it might make a difference ..if it wasn't so glaringly bad it would be ok, but, the elite recruit wants it all.

I feel bad that the girls came back from 2-0 and tied the game on a 2 run home run only to lose in the bottom of the 7th. I sure hope Trainer doesn't pitch again tomorrow and maybe we can get a W.

Heard they are adding turf field next year? However, our field is a total embarassment and unsafe to boot. I have attended a number of games there, including last week against Maryland. The spectators have to be on alert at all times. I saw several moms with children there rushing to cover to their heads to protect them from foul balls coming over the fence. I think when the team does much better next year (based on the 5 promising recruits and 1 transfer from Alabama), there will be pressure to seriously upgrade the spectator area and stands, at least I hope so. They deserve much better

The first season Nebraska’s women went to RU to play, like all away games, their radio broadcast team was along. When they got to the field to set up to do the games there was nowhere for them to set up to broadcast from nor was there any phone lines or anything for doing a broadcast. They set up a card table behind the screen with two folding chairs and used cell phones and called into the home radio station to broadcast it.
While I haven’t ever been to your field I find it strange that a major college wouldn’t have a press box for broadcasts for themselves and the visitors. Some updates must definitely be in order.

that's the sad ru story....and people wonder why blue chippers from our own state choose elite programs.....years, and years of i don't give a f....k about athletics, and this is what you get....it takes a nebraska fan to point this out.
i should send that post to hobbs......oh well, this harsh reality really sucks

We do have a ways to go but great first step with hiring of this coach. Went to FSU home game yesterday. Got there 40 minutes early and had to buy standing room ticket. This coach coming from playing at Florida knows what it takes to be a top program.

RU leads 5-1 M4th. Indiana put in Trainor for top 3 after RU jumped to a 3-0 lead early.

RU wins 5-2. Well pitched game by freshman Corah Price, the RU ACE now I would think.

Leadoff hitter J Hughes with 2 Hits, a homer and 2 RBIs Wingert w 2 hits.
Moy with 2 RBIs.

Home next weekend, the last weekend of the regular season, to take on a bad , last place Michigan St team (3-16). RU should wind up being a 6 or 7 seed. A chance of an NCAA At Large still a possibility. I 'd think sweeping or taking 2 of 3, then winning at least 2 in the Big10 Tourney would do it.

Background on new RU pitching star Freshman Corah Price:
She is from Colorado Springs, Col (been there twice, great town, AF Academy, The Broadmoor Resort, Pikes Peak)

A business major
Daughter of Cheryl and Christian; Has one sibling, Cameron
Father, Christian, is an active member of the United State Air Force
Proudest sports moment was pitching the entire championship day for the 18U Power Pool Top 100 Division in Fireworks, working with her team to earn a second place finish
Greatest sports influence is her father, Christian

Current standings show RU still in 6th and Indiana in 7th. Only if RU could squeeze into 5th would it make a big deal, as the top 3 Big10 teams are head and shoulders better than the rest. The 5 seed would get the 4th seed in the second round, a winnable game. Getting the 6-8 seed probably doesn't make a diff , as if you win your first, you still get one of the top3 Powerhouses in the next game. This Softball Conference is so top heavy that only 5 of the 14 teams have over a .500 conference record. Although if Ru sweeps Mich St next weekend, which I think they will, then thy finish a game over.

wtg ladies, very happy they avoided the sweep, and played tough the last two games.....when you have a coach who has excelled at the highest level collegiately, and professionally. how can it not inspire the ladies to emulate their new coach...pat hobbs hit a home run with this hire.

1. Great job to get the W today!

2. Softball is almost all about pitching, then strong defense to back up your pitching. Great to hear we have highly regarded pitchers coming to the program.

3. Extend the coach after this season ends. We cannot let her go in two years to a big time program. This is where B1G money is needed.

Butler is doing a phenomenal job in her first year but any at-large NCAA talk is pure folly. Take care of business next weekend and win a game (or two if absolutely everything broke right) in the Big Ten tourney and it’s been a great start to her tenure.

They just don’t have anything close to an NCAA at-large resume.
