Rutgers Victims of September 11, 2001

I think of the passengers on flight 93. 17 men among the 40, taking on the hijacker in the passenger section, probably getting wounded badly, then trying to break down the door to the cockpit. The hijacker pilot put the plane in a dive before they could reach the controls. The dive lasted about 5 seconds, the plane inverted near the end.

great pic

Not to mention how many millions have died, been injured, displaced and lives destroyed in the resulting wars and conflicts this event sparked.

A tragedy all around. 😞
that's because we don't use LeMay's rule.

We still don't know all the facts but one thing is certain; never forget!

just messed with teh one earlier in this thread.. which is very interesting.. very "noisy" but good noise. hard to make a cleaner version of it with the long vertical lined in the towers. I di make a bigger cleaner one but some patterns appeared in the noise... which is kinda how the AI image generators work... but this would be the screen-door effect patterns.. which are never good.. even in screen doors.

I say it every year and will continue to say it every year you post this...I am so glad I’m not on it.
What stands out to me now 22 years later is how young most of them were. My cousin who was on a rescue team from Houston, TX passed away last year from cancer he got while working at the site. People are still dying from the attack, another reason to not forget what took place

Good to know my school was chosen for one of these…

over time we have a tendency to forget how horrible that day was, this guy's story really is a good reminder of the toll it paid on so many people and how it continues to effect people even today

My youtube feed got sent a video from a channel called EnhancedWTCvideos

I watched this one.. at some point the mic goes wrong and real audio track stops. But you can see some firefighters arriving.. you see the 2nd plane hit.. the first tower that falls.. the people all around the area.. their faces.. anguish.. not sure I can watch more.. but this one brought me back.. god bless them all

Fox did an amazing job this morning of replaying the timeline and news feed of that morning. We forget how scary that day was, watching the horror again is still very chilling. To this day, people are still dying from the effects. My cousin who was a search and rescue fireman from Houston, TX came up to help out the next day. He recently passed due to complications from working at the site, leaving a wife and 2 teenage sons.

Can't believe it's been 23 years already. WTC1 is a beautiful modern building, but I always thought we should have rebuilt the towers as is.

Never forget.
So many people lost, many young.
343

A heartwarming story of three brothers who survived.

We’ve passed the 343 number of those who have passed with 9/11 related conditions.

I think it’s in the 360’s now?

Agree.

But maybe 111 instead of the original 110 stories.

I was, again, disappointed that Rutgers did not take a moment of silence or scroll the names of the murdered RU alumni this past weekend.
Just another example… and a very important one..of the inept Game Day Operations at Shi Stadium.

"Never forget" shouldn't just be a phrase thrown around. We had a NJSP helo flyover...give some context behind why! They don't do that every game...there was a special reason why.

People forget.
Our local ceremony was on Monday at town hall. FD was notified Monday morning of the event. Why would the FD want to know any sooner. 🙄

I participated in a public forum project designed to gather the public's ideas about what should happen to the WTC site. I can tell you there was a lot of pressure based on business interests alone, to not build a tall tower at all.. to build more floor space in many smaller buildings.. to avoid greenspace.. which was one of the more popular ideas.. make the whole area a memorial park. Even the idea of making any buildings there be designed to be a new Babylonian Gardens kind of place.. a new world wonder to place one from the middle east that spawned the attack.

Business won out.. but Freedom Tower was a concession by the business interests down there. Still a lost opportunity in my book.

As of this March I returned work to at the Cantor Fitzgerald group for the first time since 2002. It's a strange feeling. This is my first 9/11 back at the group. I lost many many friends that day. Never Forget
when did you start working there the first time?

The lost opportunity was to rebuild it back to what was there.
Mentioned this earlier in the thread.

We have gone well past the original 343 number.

Not sure about NYPD or PAPD.

Posted this before but nice to know my alma mater is really there for me if it’s ever needed…

Hopefully I won’t. 🤞

I like this idea. RU needs to step it up

I had business relationship with Rutgers Athletics when i was working and sent an email to my contact about a Rutgers Alum who has just been killed in Afghanistan and asked him if it would be possible to have a moment of silence to honor this person . His response was no and if he did that for him he would have to do it for everyone. These people are brainless

Something about the day that i never knew or heard about until this morning when someone posted it to our internal company message board. Pretty impressive.

I have shared the above before on here and in other threads about that day.

I can't say "All available boats!" without the hair on my arms standing up.

I know a few guys who were brought TO Manhattan to help out this way.
