Yes! Mecate is tough as nails on top, but Ash is just a better wrestler overall. Congrats Ash!

Ash won 5-4. He was up 3-2 midway through the 3rd, but his opponent had already locked in one point of riding time. Then Ash scored a takedown very late to go up 5-2, but almost immediately let his opponent escape as the match ended.
How about a Ashnault vs Mckenna all NJ final?! MSG would be lit!! First we gotta take care of Heil.. He is defensive wrestler and no one wants to go neutral or be on bottom of Ash rn!!
Well Done Ash. I think Mecate will always regret choosing neutral instead of taking bottom. Ash showed tremendous heart and conditioning. He endured a very tough 2nd period ride, and came out in the third and scored. That's super impressive.

Heil is a hammer on top, and Ash is vulnerable to a tough ride. This match will be tougher than the final for Ash.
Mecate chosee neutral down 3-2 because if he chose bottom..he knows Ash would have hammered him on top and erased his RT point, but agreed it was a risky choice for him picking neutral.
I was hoping Mecate taking the bottom. Ash came very close to tilting him on the 1st period (got reversed), and I'm sure Ash would have tilted him had Mecate took the bottom - they knew that so they decided on neutral.

Whoever wins the coin toss to be able to defer choice then have choice in 3rd period will be huge..
