Rutgers Wrestling ---- NCAA Tournament / Updates & Results (All Sessions)

Yes they are. I think both cannot afford another loss however. The earlier you lose the more wrestle back matches you need to win to medal. Not easy .

AP still alive on the top side and your other AA candidates still in it. I'm sure you would prefer to see some other wins but those are your guys.

Just got home. WTF went on at MSG? Just a dreadful performance, some of it very surprising. Not surprising was Smith losing in the first round. That was a sure thing. The poor wrestling in the consolation rounds is very discouraging . What a cap to an otherwise successful season. Long train ride home for the fans.

Thanks for your concern. Why do you post more here than on the Penn St wrestling site?

Aren't AP and RL still AA candidates? Not trying to be a jerk but wasn't that the ceiling?
Also Smith and Gravina were possible shots but right now looking shaky

It's not over yet... I still really believe Ashnault will win NCAA, especially if Heil gets knocked off by Ward. Richie Lewis is wrestling tough he can podium if he doesn't run into a buzz saw. AP...not so sure.

Pathetic. I understand losing but not even trying is unacceptable. At least Bak fought.

Kjb, RU fans are just frustrated and had (too) high expectations for our 10 grapplers. RU is building and going in the right direction...takes time. Post away. Our passion for RU is a good thing!

I'm still sitting here at MSG rooting away....GO RU!!!

This first day was a reality check for sure. Still a lot of room for improvement. Really expected Giraldo to have a better year. Think that weight cut really took a lot out of him.

In an interview this week, Coach G said he felt the team was not prepared the last 2 NCAA tournys w going there only 1 day before the tourny started, so this year he decided to go even earlier, 2 days early, and let the kids get acclimated to the hotel, surroundings, and practice at the Tourny site. Welll.. the best laid plans of mice and men (?) lol
Ah
The point is we're getting manhandled by unseeded kids...
Again, what's your point as there have been a ton of upsets & unseeded wrestlers win & pin too? Stop trying to make it worse than it is.

Wow, Realbuto on 1 leg almost got a last second TD to win it 7-6. Just a second too late.

Nice job by Gravina.

Sure, why not. It's a fact he subtly throws digs at our program on our site, yet on his site he rarely posts. Isn't that a bit odd?
He is very active on the premium board on BWI. He doesn't post much on the McAndrews board but I can't blame him. That board talks more about other topics then Penn State athletics.

Abro, kjb is a solid poster. Not sure why you took exception to him posting here since nothing was inflammatory. He knows more than most of us about wrestling (not necessarily you, but definitely me and many others). He posts in a lot of places, including tMB, so it's nothing out of the ordinary for him to hang out here. His own board gives him a harder time than we do, so I'd let it be.

While he's not an out and out troll, imo he is borderline troll. Twice last week I caught him making statements that were out and out false about our program. 1 I mentioned Ashnault would be a 4-6 he said no way, as Ash got lucky not having to wrestle the top 2 seeds at the Big 10 tourny, a day later Ash was named 4 seed, 2 then I said RU wrestling was on the Upswing as witnessed by our top 5-10 incoming recruiting class, he retorted that I was wrong that he read it was about 75. I quickly proved him wrong by linking the proof. There are other instances, but those 2 recent ones are the freshest in my mind . Those that know me know I'm a reasonable guy. KGB is no fan of RU. And his own board probably gives him a hard time because he is lacking in wrestling knowledge, which is why he probably posts here more than there.

Smith is set up nice. 2 winnable matches then the Wessel who he beat from Leh to AA. This is the best chance he has had in all his NCAA tournaments.

That was a tough day. 5 wrestlers onto day two. Would have liked to see Bak make it but tough loss in OT. Would have also liked to see another of either Lewis or Perotti still in the championship round. Smith is making a nice comeback, still a long road ahead. Lets face it McCabe, Hymarck and Dippery had no shot but Giraldo is a complete mystery I had high hopes for him but out of everyone he's really the only disappointment with how he wrestled. Here's hoping for a better day tomorrow. Have we ever had 5 wrestlers make it to day 2 before because I can't think of another time?
