Rutgers Wrestling ---- NCAA Tournament / Updates & Results (All Sessions)

I wonder what happened to that troll poster who claimed he was a former Rutgers wrestler that used to flame the hell out of Goodale and then it turned out he was a fraud.

Oh, I believe he's still around....

AP doing what he had to.ONTH, Lewis- disappointing- got shut out to boot..

Nice win by Perrotti. He wrestled well.

Disappointing match by Lewis. He needed to finish 1 or 2 of the 5 or so shots he was in deep on.

157 Conso 2nd Round: No. 9 Richie Lewis loses to Dylan Cottrell (WVU), 4-0, ending his first NCAA

What's up with Lewis? Looked tired and couldn't finish multiple shots where he was in good positions. But Cottrell is a good wrestler so he may be the stronger guy.

Nice win by Perrotti.

On the whole, though, we have not looked good at all on bottom. That's been tiring us out and is the biggest reason, imo, for our lack of success in this tournament.

Smith remains an enigma. Don't know what to expect from him. He should beat his guy, but how many times is that said and turns out wrong. Maybe Gravina will be the one positive surprise for us-fingers crossed.

I think Lewis would benefit from a redshirt year as well. I think he's mature enough to stay out of trouble and really dedicate to wrestling so that after a year, he can contend for the national title, and I think he has what it takes to do it.

Agreed.Nicely put!

"I’m moving on to the semifinals of the national tournament and seeing my dreams as a little kid come true right in front of me," Ashnault said. "It’s a really cool experience right now.”

“That’s why I came to Rutgers – to do stuff like this," Ashnault said. "It’s crazy it’s happening so soon, but it’s a really exciting time. If there are young guys out there looking at Rutgers, hopefully it’s making the decision to stay home a little easier seeing guys succeed.

Watching last night at MSG he really turned it on his 2nd and 3rd matches. Looked like a man on a mission and, realistically, he is at this point.

Smith has a very realistic chance to make AA. Most likely, he will run into Lehigh's Wessel in the blood round.

I disagree. His history as I understand it, is a bit of a Firestarter. Why open the door, and invite uncertainty. Btw, I'm not convinced that redshirting Theo wasn't a mistake. Leave Lewis at 157, and keep him in the line-up.

I hope you are both right, but his history tells otherwise. Maybe , just maybe, he can break that pattern and get to AA.
