IF ( and I hope they don't) the Chargers move back to Los Angeles, San Diego now has one pro sports team (Padres). San Diego State should see some increase in their football crowds,in addition to opening their new basketball arena a few years back. Does this increase their chances of getting into the PAC 12 ? If so,who would be most likely to join them--BYU,UNLV,Nevada-Reno,New Mexico, others ?

Probably not.

San Diego is a big market, but not a huge one. Is has slightly more people than Nevada for example - but Nevada probably has fewer USC/UCLA fans than San Diego. Neither has enough to increase the fans/team for the conference. Better off just waiting for Texas.

If they expand, it might be driven by their network. SDSU would be the 5th team in California, which doesn't help. Utah might make BYU unattractive. Nevada and New Mexico (35th and 36th) are the two largest contiguous states based on population.

There are better options and more solid programs out there for the Pac12 to consider and patiently wait for should it decide to expand. What may happen to and within the Big12 is key as is the BYU situation. The New Mexico and Nevada schools aren't even close in terms of history and what they would bring to the Pac12 as opposed to several of the Big12 teams etc.

The Chargers if they move should go to Anaheim and not LA proper. Anaheim is 30 miles closer to San Diego then LA for the Charger fans that stick with their team. Plus Charger fans that are 20 or 30 miles north of the city will only be like an hour from Anaheim.

Yes, they should give up one crappy under-maintained mid-60's stadium for another only-slightly better maintained mid-60's stadium... :)

Orange County isn't going to build a $2 Billion stadium. The combination of private money/available land/semi-public funding is going to be in the greater LA area.

Every team wants their new, shinny multi-billion $ toy.

Believe me --- I'd prefer a team in OC --- (traffic getting to LA is going to be a nightmare)--- but, I don't see it happening.

UCLA, CAL, USC, STANFORD, SAN Diego STATE: which team doesn't belong?

That's right...apples and prune pits.

Not going to happen....ever.
