Schiano influence spreads to Arkansas

"Actually, Michigan would have been a terrible choice since their fans wouldn't give him enough time to make the necessary changes, same as a Rod Rodriguez. There would be too many judgmental fans who also expect 9-11 every year. Only Harbough would satisfy these fans and be given the time to make his changes. Virginia or Illinois would be more accepting of 6-8 wins a season."

Did anyone ever stop to think that maybe 6-8 wins a year at Rutgers was his average BECAUSE of the level of recruits we were able to get? Something that he did improve on most of the last few years.

If he was able to coach a team with Michigan level recruits, I'm pretty sure he would be able to reach a much higher level each year. He certainly did pretty well with his defense at Miami.

I still believe if Greg had the ability to recruit within a conference like the Big Ten he would do very well recruiting wise. And with a roster full of 4 and 5 star players, we would truly see if he could coach or not. As others have pointed out, Tampa Bay didn't exactly play better without Greg. So, why his time there is used as an example is beyond me...

We were only 1 great QB and a decent OL from being the great team everyone wanted. I see Strong is becoming an average coach at a Texas because he can not find his Teddy Bridgewater. Harbaugh is bringing in 2-3 4 star QB recruits every year because he knows QB wins games not the coach. He won at Stanford because of Luck.

We see how hard it is to recruit a 4 star QB to Rutgers. Schiano normally got the best QB in NJ at the time but none were 4 star QB. We want to bet on 1 QB while Michigan and Tenn are recruiting 5-6 QB's in 2 years to get the best. I think they have better odds of getting a great QB

Well maybe because his players hated him, the media hated him and the other HC's in the league didn't like him either. Oh and there's the matter of his W-L record and that pesky 0-8 start in year 2 that made Tampa the laughingstock of the league as local billboards were declaring Fire Schiano all over town. Other than that I don't see what the problem was either.

Should be interesting. I just doubt he can pick and chose like some posters seem to think. He may end up a DC in college for a few years.

But when? Tick tock. One more year to claim he is biding his time with the Bucs money.
Don't think you are giving him enough credit, he could possibly be a DC in the pros.

Factoid: Three current head coaches in the Big Ten come from the Schiano tree: Rutgers (Flood), Illinois (Cubit) and Purdue (Hazell).
