Season Prediction Thread

Looking back to my OP I had 15-15 (7-13). But I think we performed better than I expected despite us actually going 14-16. Record isnt the end all be all
Agree with this, only threw up 2 duds with Eugene on the floor. More duds than I would have liked with him sitting but we were 2 bounces away from 9-11 and it would have taken more than a few bounces to get us to 5-15 or even 6-14.

11-19 but hoping 20-10

Looking back I think this season went as best as we could hope for. Pike made finishing 12th in conference not so bad.

OSU was up and down and they lose Diop who covered up a lot of their holes. They recruited alright but can they replace Kam William and Tate? Even so, I can’t see them being better than a middle of the the pack team in conference, which does make them a lot better than Rutgers. When do we get them in the year? They may need to find their way a bit first before replacing that production.

OSU finishes 8th and up and down. I dont think they’re “a lot” better than Rutgers. Think Holtman got more out of them than I actually expected.

I’ll stick with my prediction. Unfortunately wins matter and we will have the least amount of wins in conference again. Hopefully the Pike will leverage the facility to successfully improve recruiting in 2020 because it may be hard to sell “development” after 3 last place conference finishes.

Rutgers was clearly not the worst team in the conference. Even with having a better luck rating than our peers near at or near the bottom NW was still clearly the worst team (though not by Kenpom - we beat out Illinois by one spot to avoid that dubious title). What a difference from a short time ago. Nebraska had some bad luck with health. Overall the conference really was not as good as many people thought. Pike did well at the restart of big ten play to find the right buttons to press.

Ultimately leveraging the facility to improve recruiting in 2020 is still critical. At some point our conference record or talent needs to move out of the bottom third of the conference. There’s reason to be hopeful that may happen soon but Pike and the players still have to go out there and do it to make it so.

So, I had no idea what we had before the season, so I saw no point in making a prediction, but having seen two games, I'm going with 39-0 and national championship. Ok, seriously, I'll go with 15-15/8-12. Upside is hard to quantify - if we can gel defensively, in particular, while continuing to rain from downtown and share the ball, we could be a bubble team with 18-19 wins and this schedule. But that's an awful lot to ask for with a very young team. Downside isn't that low, IMO, maybe 13-17/6-14.

Not bad. Had a lot of confidence we'd be better than last year and we were. Like our trajectory for next year. Wish we could've pulled out the Iowa, PSU and Fordham games to finish 17-13/9-11, which was certainly within our grasp. That probably would've been NIT worthy, especially with a win in the B1G tourney. Now we have to go win the damn thing...
