SI Ranking of potential college job openings.

This has to be one of the toughest jobs in college sports and its an unsupportive environment in every facet that makes this job undesirable. From the spotlight of the media in NJ/NY, of which the local media is antagonistic and criticizes every move; to the politics; to a fickle and lukewarm fanbase; to a focus in the area on professional teams; to the somewhat average facilities; to the lack of a winning culture; to unsupportive relationships with NJ high school coaches and limited historical success in keeping NJ HS players home; to an unsupportive administration running the university when it comes to making athletics a priority and unwillingness to invest in the program; to the current financial issues; and the list goes on and on.

Many coaches simply want to recruit and coach without all these roadblocks that this job brings.

However, at the end of the day, if Rutgers is willing to pay large sums of money for a HC, he will come.

Our last coach parlayed his Rutgers gig into an NFL head coaching position. That has to count for something.
That's true Ed but he had Mulcahy behind him and Bob got the money together to do things. Hell, Hermann isn't even allowed to talk to the press. I wish things were better but to make a change I think fans need to stop going to games, donations stop and RU becomes a laughing stock again. At that point, maybe things change.
We can all wish.

The whole thing is stupid...there is one reason only that we are at the bottom...fracking money. If we were paying 3.5-4 mil plus 1.5 for coordinators, we would toward the top.
