So it begins: corporate ads on pro jerseys

This a great idea and not using corporate sponsors is terrible business. Good to see the NBA taking the lead in multiple sports issues off the court/field. The NBA is in good hands with Silver at the helm.

Personally I think this is a terrible idea.

Goes to show how weak/desperate the NBA is...

I'm good with it if the logos are small and the team name is still the big thing across the jersey. I hate that soccer has the whole thing across their jersey and doesnt say the team.

I don't like it, but then again, I don't like basketball anyway. I would hope this doesn't seep into football and baseball, though. Could you imagine all of the uniform threads we'd have here if we had to debate how to fit an Amerihealth NJ logo somewhere on the salmon pajamas?

Great team will look like a NASCAR And guess where they will put the Viagra adds.
BTW they should reserve the bottom center of the back side of pants for political advisement:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If it would only eliminate the insane # of "TV TO's" in our professional sports I would love it, however, we know THAT isn't happening lol!

Why do people think professional sports are so sacred? Professional sports are entertainment and entertainment is often times created to sell products and always to make money. Youth sports can teach us many lessons when we are growing up, watching professional sports does not teach us anything worthwhile, it is simply entertainment.

soccer jersey sponsorship is tied into the sport. Pretty much every soccer club in the world once started as a local sports club and then grew and grew to where they are today. The bigger you got your club, the better and more lucrative your jersey sponsor - obviously.

Anyway, of course the US professional leagues are starting to do this. One day, colleges will also do it , guaranteed.

The Philadelphia Union sponsor is Bimbo.

As Bomani Jones said this week. Not everyone is going to be Coca-Cola. They claim to be a billion dollar industry. So why are you trying to squeeze a few more bucks when the average American can't afford to go to a game.
Imagine Rutgers wearing High Point Solutions unis.

Stupid idea.

Will suck buying a replica jersey. Paying to advertise for the advertiser. As someone else said, don't care about NBA. Please don't ruin baseball and football uniforms.

I don't understand the fuss. It seems a little late to be concerned that professional sports teams might become a bunch of sellouts. Making money is an American tradition.

Buddy of mine works in NBA corporate office and they are rolling in the dough do don't think for a second they are weak

How much is enough money?

Where will they draw the line?

Its bad enough that sports like football has changed the rules to increase ad time and decrease play time. We're just lucky that teams have gone to the hurry-up or we'd see so little football actually played we'd forget what it is like.

Why can't these sports say multimillionaire players and billionaire owners is good enough, we do not need any more ad revenue. We'd rather keep the look of the uniforms pure. We have already sacrificed scoreboards, floors, boards, stadiums, entrances, lounges, etc etc etc.. the uniforms go untouched. How about that?

Didn't the Giants do this a few years ago with their practice jerseys?

I thought Timex was the first sponsor for their stand alone practice facility in the parking lot and they had something on those practice jerseys?

If done correctly and with class there is no issue with this.
However if it becomes a human billboard with Ads like the European Hockey league uniforms (ugly) then no way.
