Something fishy is going on at Seton Hall

Seton Hall has their stuff together. I brought 43 people there for a game a couple of months ago and was amazed at all the Seton Hall stuff they were handing out for free before the game. The ROCK is a great place to play at. I'm not surprised good players want to play there.

Seton Hall has a coaching staff that has lots of connections and the school has the right NJ political connections. It seems like we now have the right coaching staff with connections and hopefully the NJ politicians help our cause.

A little perspective in current rankings: BE:Nova 2 and Butler 18. Big 10: Purdue 13, Wisc. 24, MD 25.
Don't let your head get too big.
Nova beat Purdue 79-76 @Purdue
Butler beat Northwestern 70-68 at Butler and
Butler beat Indiana 83-78 at a Neutral site.

bwahahahaha,,,sure,,,,if you say so
I wouldnt go to Seton Hall if it was FREE
but thanks

Say,,dont you have a site of your own......or do you just troll here?

I come here for Bacs wisdom this time of year. He's great. And even though most here hate SHU I have engaged here and gone to the RAC and found grown ups. But I'm always amazed by your multi-season obsession with The Hall. For a guy with an ivy undergrad, RU grad degree and presumably a good life your stream of invective against a small catholic school Is like watching a train wreck. You just don't comport yourself consistent with someone with an education, let alone an ivy.

Seton halls gotta be doing something sketchy. With how little they offer and how good theyre recruiting something has to be up. Today the #3 player in the country, a projected lottery pick, Trevon Duval is on campus. Kid plays at img so its not like hes just taking a quick train ride from nyc.

Something sktechy is going on there and wouldnt be surprised to see them get nabbed sooner than later

Lol

agreed...all respectable programs.... my point was that, because the football programs are no longer in the league, it would be tough to maintain the league as one of the best out there..... there are several factors that begin to work against a basketball only league....

I certainly think that any of the teams you mention could beat a top team outside the league.... I doubt, however, that there will be a return to the days of 4 or 5 big east teams in the top 15, for example....or six or seven teams going to the dance as we have seen years ago....

the league is perfect for the schools without football..... plenty of solid competition....

I highly doubt that there would be 5 teams in the top 15 as there are only 10 teams in the league compared to 16 teams in the old big east. But there were 3 teams consistently in the top 15 at the beginning of the year until about a month ago.

Yes plenty of competition and recruiting at several schools like Marquette, Creighton, and Butler has improved.

Seton Hall makes the semis of BE tourney today and locks in, yet another tourney for them. Our fans have no legs to stand on in attacking their program. Do not have to like them or root for them and I do not and I will cringe if Hobbs is shown rooting for them this year but you have to respect their program and how they have manage to stay relevant in the changing times of the BE when they easily could have sank to the bottom of the league

Maybe I am just getting older and don't care as much anymore, but there doesn't seem to be as much animosity between the two schools since you guys split from the Big East. Yeah, we don't like each other...lol, but it's different. FWIW, I think Pike is the real deal and you guys can make noise in the Big10.

Hey, two of my best friends are Ex-RU FB players from the old days...even today they know how to sneak beers onto the RU golf course:).

I think the switch in conferences makes a big difference...two different worlds. I would like to play the non conference game in January or February but that will never happen

Personally, I think RU and SHU wound up in the best possible situations for both (Big10/Big East). Conferences that are more aligned with each school, and as much as we despise each other, it should enable a healthy basketball rivalry and fan interest in the state which would be great especially since we don't have an NBA team anymore.

They have been involved with him for the last year. This did not just happen. Don't really care about SHU - just beat OSU
Today's Seton Hall: 60% of students live on campus. Another 15% live off campus. 25% commute. This year's freshmen class of 1250 had 50 kids from California, believe it or not. After NJ and NY, it was the the third largest contributing state.

Our academics have improved dramatically- Medical School, School of Diplomacy, Health Sciences, Skillman Business School. 92% of our business school grads have jobs within 6 months of graduation.

Being 25 minutes from midtown by train is also appealing to many kids. NYC internships abound and are easy to get to by public transit.

For a student who like a smaller atmosphere which is academically challenging, Seton Hall is a good choice today.

And while we don't have football, our basketball team is pretty good and more often than not beats it's Big 10 rival up the road.

Wheezy, so you don't see the BE getting 6 or 7 teams to the dance like the old days anymore? If you paid attention to current state of college hoops you would realize the BE is about to get 6 or 7 teams to the big dance THIS year. Your comment was off base when you made it and laughable now. Some kids actually like going to a school where Hoops, not football is king.

You hit the nail on the head. There are certain aspects of the BE that are very different than the power five conferences and appeal to a lot of kids. As I said before, if you can get and keep good coaches ($$$), they will get the players that these factors appeal. I will be surprised as anyone here if Willard gets Duval to commit, but we have seen this movie before, sometimes with a sad ending and sometimes with a happy ending.

There's nothing to be gained by running down Seton Hall. It's a loser's mentality......

Talk about a one trick pony. You should retell your sophomoric story of how you were in California and no one heard of SHU, while EVERYONE heard of Rutgers and even thought it was an Ivy League School. You need a more intelligent plot line.

ROFLMAO!

Not saying they pay their players but SH does suck. Obviously they have had a better program than Rutgers there is no argument there, but it is a commuter school that is insanely overpriced and they play in an empty stadium. Rutgers has a new coach and is now in the B1G. Future and ceiling is brighter for RU. Not sure why everyone is so quick to defend SH. They were a hated rival when I was in school. What's with the love fest?

My original post is about the big east long term..... it was my belief that the big east would slowly erode without the football programs...... the erosion would would be with the league itself getting bias against it on selection day, because the FBI/BB conferences would be in control, and a general trend towards the combined conferences getting stronger..... and a trend towards recruits wanting to play for those combined conferences

It is not necessary to point out this or that team that is strong this year, I am looking down the road a decade, two decades.... a long range look.... this is not about today.

As I mentioned, Nova has certainly helped keep the league in the public eye, which is good for the conference..... I just think it is an uphill battle long term....... of course, I could be wrong, you may be wrong... we shall see in the future.

If you look toward recruits to predict the future, all the BE teams recruited better following realignment (except maybe Gtown and Nova which continued their great recruiting). Last year the BE had a great freshman class come in, and next years class is the best recruiting class since realignment for the conference. It helps when teams like Cinci, WVU, UConn, Pitt, Lousville etc no longer playing games around here anymore. The Garden is packed, the games are great. For basketball schools, its a great deal. Just like BIG is great deal for RU.

Predictions are hard; especially about the future

This thread is so sad. While they are going dancing yet again we hate on them and look silly with baseless allegations. Let's just continue to celebrate our own basketball team and leave them alone.

Which is what a prediction is. I already said I could be wrong. But what I think will happen if I were to predict

Wheezer, how could you let that pearl sail right over your head? Attributed to many, but definitely a Yogism

Current Big East and Big Ten are just worlds apart. Small (mostly less than 10,000 students), private, religious schools (mostly Catholic) versus large (mostly over 30,000), public (exception Northwestern) flagship state research universities.
The lack of conference affiliation and general lack of similarities between the schools results in less passion/animosity. I wish SetonHall well. The two schools occupy different space now.

Less passion ?

I was in the Barclay Center the last 3 days and it was packed and the ACC is a mix of Public and Private Schools with similar profiles the ACC.

Last nights game between 2 private schools didn't lack for passion.

I'll be interested in watching next season when the Big Ten comes to NYC to see if it draws as well as the BE Tournament.

Reading comprehension not a strong suit? I wrote there is less passion between RU and Seton Hall. You misconstrued my statement.

You have s better chance with your argument if you get your facts straight. 80% of SHU freshman live on campus.
