St. John's Sedee Keita out 4-6 weeks

Monster game from Myles. I think we see a lot of the offense running through him in the post where he will score at will against single coverage and dishing out for 3 after 3 when they double. It's the biggest mismatch on the court against their small bigs

Keita played all of 7 minutes per game in SJU's first 2 games, including only 4 minutes against BGU, who had a 6'-10" big-man. He averaged only 9 min./game last year. The hole left by his absence has been greatly exaggerated.

Fair point but regardless they are still starting a 6'7 player at the 5 and don't have quality depth inside to handle our bigs. With Myles go go gadget arms I don't see how he can cover him in the post withoit fouling or doubling. I fully expect Pike to recognize this and exploit the matchup

He didn't play at all last year as a sit-out transfer. As a true freshman at South Carolina he averaged 9.6 min, but he was expected coming into this season to be their inside presence.

Last game against Bowling Green, he played just 4 min... and BGSU's 6-9/230 PF went for 12 pts/12 rbs... primarily because they sent him to the line for 14 FTs. Simon fouled out, and Heron/Clark each finished with 4 fouls. And that PF was the only player BGSU put on the court that game bigger than 6-7/220. SJU eked out a win at home 84-80 to a BGSU team picked to finish last in the MAC.

Loyola had no height either, with their biggest player clocking in at 6-7/220.

This will be the first test SJU has this year against multiple players taller than 6-7, and our overall height from 1-4 is also bigger than what they've seen so far this year. My biggest concern is footspeed and keeping in front of their slashing guards - if we can do that, or help over and force the ball to stay on the perimeter, we have a really good shot tonight.

I also took a look at Ponds' three point shooting numbers, and he's like the reverse Corey Sanders. For his career, he's shot 59/192 (.308) at home and 47/120 (.392) on the road... while averaging 6 attempts per game home/away/neutral.

I'm sure you've noticed that we play different line-ups depending on the opponent. He would have played a lot more for the Johnnies against Bowling Green but he got hurt (the premise of the thread). If you want to downplay it though, whatever.

I didn't realize he got hurt in the BGU game. I thought his lack of minutes against a 6'-10' big man was telling. Apparently, it was not.

Gotcha... sorry for being flippant... either way, the Johnnies are gonna be a tough matchup
