That is 100% NOT the bottom line. That is true nearly everywhere. Football and basket ball are supposed to turn a profit, and that profit is supposed to be enough to support other sports. Whether people want to admit it or not, the Rutgers subsidy IS a football and basketball problem. It is also, a donor problem.
There are 252 schools in FBS & FCS. Only about 10 of them generate a profit. Unfortunately half of those 10 are in our division.
I'm sure someone has this info. However, if they were donating that much their favorite sports wouldn't be losing so much money. Right?
Can you blame Stringer for what looks to me like an extremely low revenue number? Perhaps there should be some discussion of lack of support from the RU community.
Stringer gets paid a fortune and the sport loses the most money. Why do we continue to pay her like her teams go to the final four every year? Women's basketball loses on and off the court.and what is this suppose to mean?
and what is this suppose to mean?
That is is, by far-and-away, the most costly sport at RU. What else would it mean?

womens basketball has also been our most successful sport of all time at RU and its not even close...figures how this board is ready to come at it with pitchforks
womens hoops loses money everywhere and some way more than RU...it will continue to lose money even without her. She is a hall of fame coach with almost 1000 wins, the lack of respect for her success here is predictable
That is some dangerous BS you're spreading. There was a time when CVS was making over $1 million, but since then she has a new contract that pays her about $700K. Still, you and several others will spread the misinformation just to drive home your agenda. Unlike other programs who can't win for crap, they are more of problem to Rutgers in stealing money from the school without some type of return. WBB has been the most successful program for Rutgers the last 20+ years, yet the support given by the school, fans and alums don't match the effort by team. The common theme just about every person on this site and all Rutgers fans is if you win we will support you. I know that's what people claimed during this Flood crapfest. WBB has been winning, but the leadership or lack of from the administration/athletic dept. has set the stage for attacks and given naysayers (some supporters of other sports) the reason to hate on them. How come the same haters aren't b*tching about volleyball or tennis? Talk about a crap storm taking place... it's these two. Btw, what other team at Rutgers has come close to the success of the WBB over the years? If we claim Rutgers is our school, then why not support all the sports. If your connection is only in one sport, then leave the others alone.Stringer gets paid a fortune and the sport loses the most money. Because women's volleyball doesn't lose the money that BBall does. It's ok Vivian. Your job is safe. Nothing said on the message board has an impact. That is some dangerous BS you're spreading. It will lose a less money and not be a drain on the Athletic Department budget. Paying a WBB Head Coach $2million is beyond absurd.
