TCU News v. Rutgers News-A Tale of Two Cities

Nobody answered the question. Could you imagine Flood making a statement on behalf of Carroo like Patterson made for his player and not getting lambasted for doing so?
I can't imagine Flood making a similar statement on behalf of Carroo in the first place. That's really the issue and not the media's reaction if he made it.

TCU is a small private school that wins. It is not like they have a large alumni base like ours to rile.

I have criticized NJ.com but this incident was not on par with home invasions at gun point, nor did Patterson send dumb emails.
But he did say dumb things.

Unfortunately, Rutgers management is to blame as well.

President McCormick could have stood up to the political attacks coming from the Zoffinger crowd and backed Mulcahy.. instead he threw him to the wolves.

AD Pernetti originally had the right idea.. get Rice to change his ways.. suspension, stiff fine, counselling seems to have corrected the situation.. then the media firestorm hits with the video and he takes the easy way out.. fire Rice.. probably at the behest of Barchi... who then fired Pernetti when he was beginning to be questioned.

Barchi took the easy way out in the JH hire when her candidacy was inserted late in the process. Then when the firestorm came about her background, finally Barchi, having been the one to hire JH, decides he can resist the media pressure because it would reflect poorly on him to fire his new-hire.

When is anyone at Rutgers going to tell the media that everything is functioning perfectly here in terms of punishing offenders? No one threatened or bribed the instructor to change grades (obviously). The $50K for talking to an instructor about grades should be evidence enough of that. No one resisted police investigations into a street-fight and a robbery of drug dealers. The arrests should be proof enough of that. And lastly we have a case where the top star player on the team is accused of something.. and very likely over-charged.. and we don't keep him eligible until the courts have their say. The player is suspended until we have more information, at a minimum.

And still the media keeps up with the stories about out-of-control Rutgers Football when Rutgers Football has no power to run roughshod in order to tolerate crimes by its players.

And we have a faculty union rep going nuts in the media claiming athletics is too powerful.. and the media is eating it up.

Rutgers has schools of communications and business where, one can assume, they instruct people on PR and media relations. Why can't we get any of this crap right? Why can't we put somoen out there to slam those who attack us like this?

I know, I know.. you want it to just go away. Do nothing tokeep it in the media.

Well, that is not working. Wait a sec.. is Flood calling the shots on PR too? Not changing tactics when your plan isn't working sounds all too familiar.
