For once they may be on the side of the fans...

The Rutgers New Brunswick Faculty Council issued a resolution that deemed his penalties "incommensurate with the gravity of his violations of university policies and ethical standards'' and called on the university administration to "halt and reverse the decline in the ethical and academic standards in our football program and the continuing damage to the university's reputation.''

You can guess who reported it...

Can someone please give our professors a thesaurus? I was disturbed by their repeated use of the word disturbed. It was quite disturbing to say the least.

BTW, had Flood been allowed to provide assistance to the professors it may have turned out better.

It's shocking that there summary points are all agreeable.

Are we surprised (summarized):
1. The school did not look for other incidents
2. They feel the football program went from a pride to embarrassment academically
3. First player in many years to be ineligible
4. Feel program is out of control with violations & arrests
5. Feel flood has not kept control of the team

I think all of their points could be copied off this board 1-2 weeks back.

It's times like this that I wished our coach was a black, jewish, gay, lesbian, transgendered, reformed nazi catholic-hating, guido and harp despising, participation trophy giving dude or post op dude so we could finally not have to deal with this. Come on Julie!!!

NJ DOT COM also created a 70 second "What happened at Rutgers" summary video.

Definitive proof that they an agenda and that they are trying to cause harm to Rutgers athletics....shameful and transparent.

I don't now because I don't follow any other schools this closely, but does crap like this happen anywhere else?? Obviously the school is getting a lot of bad publicity right now. Do the professors really need to add fuel to the fire with this meaningless public shaming?? You would think for the good of the reputation of the University as a whole they would recognize that this was needless.

No. Most schools control the messaging, not allowing the media to control them. The also typically don't have alums reveling in mishaps. Rutgers is different.

We need a coach smart enough to shmooz and even kiss the asses of faculty if that's what it takes to win them over or at least silence them. Everything in life is politics and networking. Maybe one reason the academics are cold to sports is because we've never had a coach clever enough to do this.

I would think it is very easy to refute this nonsense by the Faculty.....just look at the NCAA published APR scores and have them answer to explain their misinformation....actually, it's LYING.

I had some horrible instructors while at RU, and I dealt with it. My stats prof didn't speak English, for instance. I also had some phenomenal instructors, and I was and am glad I had them. The unhappy profs are selfish waifs who like to make a stand just because they can. So typical of mindless people.

Flood did all and then some. He even taught classes. How many P5 coaches are doing that? I wouldn't be surprised if he was the only one. He went so far as to be a part of them. Can't get longer reaching olive branch then that.

The faculty at Rutgers thinks they are special. At successful schools, the teachers aren't hostile towards athletics, at least not on any scale. At Rutgers it is the norm. For all their brains, they aren't smart enough to figure out that a top notch department is good for them.

The faculty wishes they were on the par with the top programs in the B1G like Michigan and Northwestern. Maybe we need to get more actively involved to push the academic side in the same way we are pushing the athletic program across the board. The faculty and coaches are here to serve the students, not the other way around. They are paid to strive to be the best, those who can't understand that, those who can't appreciate the honor and prestige that comes with the B1G should consider a different employer where they might be more happy.

in the rear view already!

Is anyone the least bit surprised they came out with this right before Homecoming?

As usual most of the faculty do not want a football team. Professors use their brain not their brawn so they can not relate to a game in which young men bang each other around. Yes, they want to get rid of Coach Flood but they don't want any big time coach. It is a very ultra liberal school. Last year they voted to not have Condoleezza Rice, a successful proud black woman no less, come because she was a Republican. Most universities are like this so don't get to upset at RU.

I would even guess that half the faculty smoke pot, as part of the ultra liberalism. Pot smoking hippies lol

False. Falsity false. Falsity false false false.

Other than that irrelevant and unnecessary comment....

I think that ridiculous article sums up some of their points.

All this drama falls squarely on the lap of Kyle Flood, he is the one that broke the rules and failed to discipline this team...IMO, if pressure from the faculty helps get him fired then they are doing us a solid.

I don't know why so many people are defending a substandard coach that blatantly broke the rules.

I graduated 30 years ago...nothing has changed with RU professors....they are Ivy League wannabes...

If you think this is the first time they have bitched about The Football program...your crazy...been going on for 30 years...at least!

Cry me a river. If we get a big name coach and become a big name program they will be begging for only one academic incident in three years. And at that time they can write a hundred letters it won't mean shit.

My friend was in a class and the professor said "Anyone who drives a red car has a small penis". Where is the high standard and high integrity with that statement? How many professors have dated or slept with their female students, and given them a higher grade? Where is the high standard and high integrity there? But god forbid a little bitch fight, which should have been broken up and done with it, ends up having people charged as criminals and the entire thing blown way out of proportion.

Isn't a faculty advisor breaking the rules buy giving private information of all student athletes, and subjective at that, to a professor friend of theirs? Where was the punishment for that? Oh, it was swept under the table.

What about all the sexual harassment and rapes that occur at the university by non student athletes? The university hides it and says only the student athletes are the problem. If Rutgers wants a high integrity school and thinks eliminating the football team will achieve that, they better start examining themselves first.

If I was Carroo's lawyer I would find out how many of the RU Police had a sexual relationship with the victim. She worked there and they knew her, and they sided with her and would not issue a charge by the girl friend. There was a reason for that. She had sex with Carroo, she had sex with Shawn, she probably had sex with her police friends.

Okay I am done ranting. I am totally speculating except for the red car small penis thing which was actually said. And when I was a student my gf totally flirted with any professor that would bite but I don't think she slept with any of them.

On par? The full professors at Rutgers make way more money than their peers at any public institution. Most of those angry f"cks don't even teach their classes, leaving that to their slave TAs. Typical liberal NY wanna-be elite class. For these down trodden full professors it's all about the money. David Hughes whines about poor work conditions. Mark Killingsworth says Rutgers athletics needs a blue ribbon panel to sort out this mess and establish direction (we've done that a few times already). This is the same f-wad that lead the crusade against Condoleza Rice's honorary degree last year, claiming she was a "war criminal". Full professors at Rutgers are the biggest hypocrits complaining about their compensation and work conditions.

Damn, I miss Jerry Izenberg, Paul Franklin and Harvey Yavener. Real journalism is, for the most part, dead.
