Bingo ^^^^^^^^^^^^^and that is the bottom line. He might be big mouth tough, but on the field he is terrified!
If you carefully watch us vs other B1G schools, one thing that is really lacking is football IQ in addition to athletic ability. I think the staff sees that and is just doing best they can on both sides of the ball with what they have.
But it's Drew's fault for putting Laviano out there, when Oden would have been much better suited for that playcalling.

Exactly - I had no problem with the play call, but like I posted in another thread, I would have put one of our running QBs in there. Rescigno/Oden/Allen - I think anyone of those 3 would have looked better running that option.
Laviano just looks so awkward trying to run the option.

From those video captures, sure looks like Harris was where he should have been for CL to make the pitch if he chose to. -And especially in the first shot, had CL pitched the ball, appears JH had the space and the angle on the defender to get past him, especially since Harris blows CL away in terms of speed.
That's a 2 on 1 fast break and he couldn't deliver.
Laviano was still behind the line of scrimmage, so would it even matter if Harris was ahead of him?
Coach Ash LITERALLY stated in his post-game presser that it's been all over him in practice to get rid of the ball instead of taking sacks. He's certainly NOT afraid of taking sacks if today was any indication lol!
The pitch should've been made precisely in the second frame of @brodo pics above ! With that amount of space and his speed you give that to Harris !
DIdn't like the first 3 calls that series, but that call was perfect. Exactly what they drew up.2-1 is correct. The right play wasn't made by Laviano.

Laviano pitches and Harris could have skipped to the pylon. Laviano has absolutely no feel for the option offense.

Laviano should have made the pitch, but he probably isn't comfortable running that type of play and that's why he kept it.

That I can agree with , Gio might have been better than both but Ash and DM didn't put him in, so guess Gio isn't the answer either.
