Can someone explain to me the formula and mindset that allows you to watch an entire RU basketball game on TV?😊
Zero problem watching us live.
I simply go insane and begin checking the score on line when I can’t take it anymore.
What’s worse, is when I turn the channel we invariably make a run.
Im so looking forward to tomorrow night, it’s a big time event and I cannot tell you how much of it I’ll see.
Don’t mistake this post for my being laissez-faire, I’m the exact opposite, I’m crazy.

I do the same for Football.

When I am there and “trapped” it’s a different story.

But very hard to watch Rutgers in anything on TV.

I can verify all of this but the laissez-faire part. You are definitely allowed to be crazy without governmental interference. :-)

DVR it and start watching it about 15 mins after tip off. Use fast forward / rewind when needed for commericals etc or when you get pissed etc instead of changing the channel. Take a break at halftime and repeat the process.

You can keep the game on TV, but have your laptop open as well. You can look away whenever you want that way.

I am fortunate enough to have a theater room in my home, so I go upstairs and watch it by myself, and typically act like a raving lunatic.

I have no idea what you're talking about 🤣

I watch every second and love it
This is me too. Can't relate to what you are describing although I admit that I do the 15 minute delay on DVR to avoid the commercials. Usually take a break during half time and watch the 2nd half live. Before I know it the game is over and I am either jumping up and down or cursing at the family.

I'm exactly the same way and I don't know why. Can handle it at the RAC, can't handle it on TV for some reason. Maybe because I feel like we can all have an impact at the RAC? I have no idea.

Yeah, there's almost a feeling of hopelessness watching the road games on TV knowing you can't do anything to get them over the hump.

That and the past couple years just knowing how important road wins are.... Going to the RAC you generally expect to win so maybe it's slightly more relaxing from that perspective

When we go into a scoring drought or the opposing team goes on a run, I feel I owe it to RU to go take the trash out, when I return we’ve always cut the lead in half 😊

There has to be a name for this syndrome. Much worse for basketball than football probably because roof the speed of the game and the fact that RU games are actually meaningful now has increased the angst 100x’s

9 hour road trip can solve tomorrow's issues. If you left 3 hours ago you could go to Buffalo Columbus hockey game and watch 2 bad teams.....both actually below the Rangers in the standings.

I almost never start watching a game when it tips off. The DVR is wonderful. Skip all the commercials to keep the game flowing. It takes less total time to watch games, too. I did catch up to the live broadcast with a few minutes left in Saturday's game. My stress level usually does not rise too much until later in the game. My heart rate does get in the 100-110 range at the key moments when I am fully engaged.

I live in California so TV is the only option. I can relate to the OP. I usually intentionally ignore the first half, only checking my iphone for the score. If its a close game or we're ahead, I start watching on TV in the second half.

Or, I could leave tomorrow afternoon, miss our game and check my phone for the score. I think that's what I'm gonna do.

My only problem is a my friend texting me during a game that I’m watching on a lag.
Usually just let him know I’m starting late and he’ll not text.

But I just put down my phone and watch.
It’s not a big deal.
I also don’t watch other CFB or CBB games so no worry about seeing the score on the ticker of another game or anything.

First text to a friend about a live sporting event should just read…

“Live?”

When I watch road games on TV, my dog just stares at me and is super worried about why I'm in distress. I feel bad for her but can't help myself.

Just pace back and forth in front of the TV.

I haven't lived in NJ since 1993 so ANY chance to watch dear ol' Rutgers on TV is fine by me...the good, the bad, the ugly...doesn't matter.... it could be Rutgers Tiddlywinks (I hear we recruited well and the team is playing LIGHTS OUT) and I'll watch it....

I went back and looked. I hit 81 BPM, but that was at 540Pm when I sprinted to the bathroom after the last media TO. Was back in my seat before they broke the huddle.

I can't NOT watch every minute of games I'm not attending in person. I don't know how to NOT watch.

I flip the channel during the media timeouts and such, but I know it's only a 2-minute break before our game restarts.

Zap, I was literally having chest pains watching the basketball team play in March. Then 6 months later I had a stent put in. Turns out I had a 99% blockage in one of my arteries. Now I watch games pain free.
That's kind of scary. But in an odd way, Rutgers basketball may have saved your life.

Media timeouts are for board posting of course

Same. I’ll look at this board begging for someone to tell me the damn score because I can’t take it. There’s also the phenomenon of turning it off because you think watching will ruin the teams good fortune. Mike lupica called this process, “THE POWER”, in his book wait till next year, one chapter of which , was devoted to our own Bob wenzel
